Here is the info we’ve been waiting for! On brand with our Go Take a Hike, Eh theme this spring, OSOF invites everyone to join us for 3 hikes in May.

Meet your hike leader, Andrew Johnson, at the Meewasin Park, just south of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

May 24th 10am - Biodiversity by the City? For Sure! Let’s Go!!
Thorstad Acreage, 605 Gabriel Road, Grasswood, SK, 1 km South of Saskatoon. There is a deer fence around the acreage with a red metal gate. This gate will only be open to get in from 9:40 to 10:15 am, however you can leave at any time. If you need to come late, please contact Brian Thorstad at 306 361-6645.

In the first year these were just tiny leaves trying to survive the crows hopping about the garden. 5 years later there are 8 blooms on one clump and frigid mining bees! Please correct my bee ID if it’s wrong.

Looking forward to expanding these gardens this year. I love that all my clients are women who are dedicated to helping the land they live on.

If you have a project you’d like help with designing or implementing, I’ll be considering taking on one or two more small projects in July.

In this 2025/2026 school year One School One Farm, along with community partners, are celebrating one native wildflower or grass each year by providing in depth lessons on how this plant supports the ecosystem AND by offering seeds and plugs to people who sign up for FREE!

This year is ‘The Year of the Yellow Prairie Coneflower’.
- let’s make this a thing!

If you already have these flowers in your garden, we encourage you to take part by sharing seeds and plants with neighbours and friends.

If you have any questions or if you would like to write an ecological piece on this plant to share with students through our network, please email [email protected] with ‘Coneflower’ in the subject line.

Please help spread the word!
