Music Show!
Children had so much fun at the Melodies in Miniature Accordion Show with one of our Holliston school-age room parent Jessica.
They enjoyed listening to the music played by Jessica and Chloe.
They were introduced to musical instrument and some of them requested to play their favourite songs.
At the event, children got the opportunity to play music on a miniature accordion.
Children were encouraged to play and share the instrument as Jessica was visiting small groups and helping them to hold the instrument and practicing with them to play music.
It was an engaging hands-on learning experience for the group that allowed children to, practice social, cognitive and communication skills.

More Slime Investigation Photos!
Investigating!
School-age engaged in investigating and learning about different kinds of slimes over the last few weeks.
We decided to start our slime sensory exploration by looking into the process, and ingredients. and talked about various techniques.
We made predictions and asked questions what would happen if we mixed together glue and warm water? etc.
Children experimented with glue and contact solution to make the clear jellyfish, magnetic, sand, edible caramel, and diaper slimes.
They investigated some of the interesting chemical properties of slime and understood the cross-linking process between polymer chains that form in the final slime.
We explored unicorns blowing slime bubbles with straws. Children were holding the slime tight around the straws so the air could not escape out the top. It blew up just like bubble gum.
Slime science is all about building into an enjoyable hands-on experience for the children.

Welcome to Yoga!
We would like to thank Kristy-Rae, owner of Little Yogis Academy Saskatchewan. The Little Yogis Academy is a mobile yoga & mindfulness program for children.
She came to visit us at our Preston Early Learning – Holliston location.
The children and staff were excited to set up the rooms with yoga mats and then greeted Kristy-Rae when she arrived.
She engaged with the children and demonstrated a variety of yoga poses.
The experience supported the children as they developed their body awareness and vocabulary with new words and movements.
The children practiced their observation skills and were excited to use their balance, coordination, and gross skills to accomplish the yoga pose.
This activity is something we would explore again as the children were able to work on their body awareness, self-regulation, and social skills.
Check out the 2 short video clips!

Family Engagement is an important part of our program in our Centres!
The children were so excited to be involved in the process of deciding what we were doing for our families and could not wait for the event to occur.
The day before our Family Engagement Day, the children decorated the rooms for their families.
They moved the tables around to organize the space, set plants on the tables, added posters, set up a board games table, an art experience table, and of course the snack table.
As families and children arrived on our Family Engagement Day, the children would show their families around. The children are so proud of their art experiences and the documentation that is displayed, and they invited their parents to look at our projects displayed in the rooms and hallways.
The children then took their families to enjoy a snack, play some games, or do an art activity.
It was great to see the families interacting, visiting, having conversations, playing games, and getting to know one another.
The day was wonderful, everyone enjoyed themselves and the comments from parents were amazing.
Every child who attended that day had someone special show up for the event.
The children and families are excited to see what we might do next.

We continue to plan activities to encourage family engagement in our Centre.
We involve the children in the process; thinking of ideas of what we could do, making the invitations, planning the decorations, activities, and snacks.
The children decided to offer muffins and juice.
Here the children are involved in the preparations for the Family Engagement, making the invitations, decorations and muffins for their families.
