As a consultant, I am often engaging with some of the most fascinating clients! In particular, ones that learn differently and need some accommodations in their home and school life!
People that have challenging circumstances are often miss understood, lost in the shuffle, and far too often left behind.
Strategy: when you have a child or a student that is struggling, give them what they need to be a success!
Sometimes it’s as simple as positive feedback, or using word to text, or text to word, or reading something out loud; so they can hear it and see it, sometimes it’s just listening to what they need!
My client tonight said, he gets angry when his Mom yells at him from another room, this creates all kinds of distress for both him and his Mom, he’s 9, so I asked him what would work better? He said, “if she came into the room and gently touched his shoulder.”
Brilliant! Just brilliant! Ask them what they need, they’ll likely be able to share with you their needs!
