The Department of Anesthesiology is one of the clinical departments within the College of Medicine.
We play an important role in the delivery of health care for the Saskatchewan Health Authority and province of Saskatchewan.

Congratulations to the outstanding Dr. Alison Knapp for being chosen as a recipient of the 2024 CSCI/CIHR resident research award for The U of S!! This prize is awarded annually for the ✨best resident research project✨ conducted at a RCPSC/CFPC training program at each canadian medical school! What an accomplishment! and well done showcasing research in anesthesia at the national level! You go girl! 💅🏼

We would also like to highlight Noaah Reaume one of our awesome medical students who was chosen as the recipient of the CAS Award for Best Abstract in Obstetric Anesthesia for 2024, for her abstract “The incidence of spinal anesthesia failures during elective Caesarean sections; a comparison of two different suppliers”

Congratulations to our department head Dr. Raazi for receiving his Canadian Certified Physician Executive (CCPE) credential at the Canadian Conference of Physician Leadership among fellow national executive leaders!!
Those who earn the credential have demonstrated that they have the leadership capabilities, knowledge and skills needed to succeed – and to direct, influence and orchestrate change in Canada’s complex health care system.
Congratulations from all of us in the department! We are so proud!!

Last night we said farewell to our R5s at a local Saskatoon brewery!! We wish them all the best as they move onto the next stage of their careers. We are excited to have a few new faces join staff come July, and will dearly miss those of you leaving.
Special thanks to Dr. Malan, who made them all handcrafted signs with their names, our department logo and laryngoscopes!!
