This scholarship aims to provide financial support for continuing graduate or undergraduate students studying at the University of Saskatchewan who can demonstrate their commitment to the promotion of forms of active transportation such as cycling and walking. It is open to all continuing students who are enrolled in a degree or non-degree program in any discipline at the University of Saskatchewa
n, whether at an undergraduate or graduate level, and who will be at least in their second year of post-secondary studies. To be eligible, applicants must:
- provide a one-page statement to demonstrate their commitment to the promotion of cycling, walking, or other forms of active transportation through their work, community involvement and advocacy, research or studies;
- provide two letters of reference attesting to this commitment (a) in relation to academic or employment-related research or studies or (b) in relation to one or more organizations that have an express mandate to promote active transportation or related infrastructure (e.g. Saskatoon Cycles, Walking Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Trail Alliance, etc);
- preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their statement and letters of reference how their community advocacy, research, or studies will improve conditions for groups who are underrepresented as users of active transportation; and
- candidate must be in good academic standing with a minimum average of 65% in the previous academic year.
