We have some exciting news to share!! A production co-written by Dr. Roydon Tse has just been nominated for a 2026 Dora Mavor Moore Award in the Outstanding New Opera category! The work, Tapestry Briefs: Under Where, was presented as part of Tapestry Opera's LibLabs. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!!

✨Student Spotlight!✨Rochelle Wright (B.Mus., Cert. Jazz, & Cert. Drama; 2026) is looking forward to a busy summer! Rochelle will be performing with the Rochelle Wright Trio at the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival this summer! Joined by Ronin Sawitsky (bass) and Max Agnew (drums), Rochelle will be performing a set of jazz arrangements and original works inspired by the long tradition of great jazz piano trios! You can catch this trio of Usask Jazz Ensemble alumni at Bokeh in The Alt Hotel on Thursday, July 9, 2026 starting at 10:30pm.

✨Student spotlight!! ✨ Congratulations to Sean Bougie on completing an MA in Musicology this year under the supervision of Dr. Lalonde. Sean will spend the summer performing classical guitar at many events around Alberta and Saskatchewan (including the Sask Jazz Festival). He will be starting a Doctor of Philosophy in Music degree at the University of Alberta in the fall!!

Join us this afternoon for a beautiful string quartet performance featuring the unique Amati instruments that are considered a provincial treasure! The violins were handcrafted in 1627 and 1637, the viola in 1607, and the cello in 1690!!

Violinist Destiny Mermagen is back in Saskatoon this weekend to perform with the Frontier String Quartet! In addition to her performing career, she is a Classical Radio Host for KPR!
