On this National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, the Saskatchewan Early Childhood Association would like to share its commitment to Learn, Listen and Remember as well as to remind everyone of the purpose of this day.

September 30th is a day to honour the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities. Providing an opportunity for learning, reflection, and public commemoration of the tragic history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system, and serves as a vital component of the Canadian reconciliation process

Canada National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is to commemorate the victims and survivors of the residential school system and its ongoing impacts on Indigenous families and communities. It serves as a public commemoration to honour the strength and dignity of Survivors and families, remember the children who never returned home, and to educate Canadians about the history and legacy of colonialism. The day encourages learning, reflection, and engagement with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's (TRC).

As we reflect on the power of education, let us remember that every child, empowered by a teacher, a book, and a pen, has the potential to change the world. By fostering happiness, we can nurture a brighter future for our children. Having shared in their growth for three incredible years at my daycare has been a truly rewarding experienced.
