Basketball drop-in is on this Friday, 1–2 PM, ages 7 and up — outside on the court at 360 Devine Street. If the sky opens up, we don’t cancel. We move inside and play dodgeball instead.

Either way, same time, same place, same free hour of running around with friends. No sign-up, no cost, no experience needed. Bring your kids, bring their friends, bring the neighbour who’s been meaning to ask about our school.

Check the forecast if you like — or just show up and find out which one you’re playing.

Beach ✔️ Ice cream ✔️ Picnic ✔️ Stayed up way too late ✔️

Summer's been doing its job. But there's one box left on the list — and it comes with a gym floor, a bouncing ball, and a whole lot of noise.

Basketball drop-in at BGHA. Friday, 1–2 PM, ages 7 and up. Meet us at 360 Devine Street. No sign-up, no cost, no experience needed — just come play. Bring your kids, bring their friends, bring the neighbour who's been asking what our school is all about.

Some of the best conversations we've had this year started on a court, not in a classroom. We'd love to have you there.

🍁 Happy Canada Day! Here's a piece of our anthem most Canadians have never heard. 🍁

Most of us only ever sing the first verse of "O Canada" — the one that ends "we stand on guard for thee." But did you know Robert Stanley Weir's original 1908 poem had four full verses, and the last one is a prayer?

"Ruler Supreme, Who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our dominion within Thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in Thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard."

Even the version we do sing officially still carries that same heart — the line "God keep our land glorious and free" has been part of our national anthem since 1980. It's easy to sing right past it, but it's there every single time.

Weir wasn't slipping in a stray sentiment. He was writing what generations of Canadians before us understood plainly: that this land, its freedom, and its future rest not in our own strength, but under the loving care of a Ruler Supreme. "True patriot love" and humble prayer were never meant to be separate verses — they were meant to be sung together.

So today, as we celebrate 🇨🇦, let's remember the fuller song our nation was given to sing — one of gratitude, humility, and hope in the God who keeps our land glorious and free.

Happy Canada Day, friends. Stand on guard — and stand in prayer. 🙏🍁
