Specialized Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge of justice system, court processes, documentation, and offender classification
Understanding of risk/needs assessment tools (e.g., LSI-OR) and temporary absence process (TAP)
Knowledge of community resources supporting inmate rehabilitation
Understanding of reintegration sectors (mental health, housing, employment, etc.)
Experience liaising with community partners and facilitating case conferences
Ability to interpret CPIC data
Analytical & Evaluative Skills
Assess offender needs and recommend program placement; develop discharge plans
Interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, and policies (e.g., MCSA, FIPPA)
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Liaise with staff, families, Probation & Parole, and community partners; interview offenders
Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with legislation (e.g., FIPPA)
Computer Skills
Proficient in databases and software (e.g., OTIS) for data entry, retrieval, and reporting. OTIS is our Offender Tracking Information System.
About the job
• Provide support related to discharge planning, rehabilitation and re-integration programs and referrals, and classification
• Determine offenders' discharge needs and requirements by reviewing information from clinical and correctional sources, conducting interviews, and liaising with internal and external ministry stakeholders
• Coordinate activities related to the Temporary Absence Program (TAP)
• Refer inmates to community agencies based on their specific needs
• Facilitate offender orientation programs as well as provide advice, counselling, and information
• Obtain and assess information on offenders' return to the community and associated risks
• Conduct exit interviews, surveys and testing with offenders prior to their discharge from the institution
