Every dream needs a driving force behind it—and for Can-Weld, that force has always been Jann.

When John first shared his wish to open a welding school, Jann is the one who made it real. She grabbed the phone book, made the calls, and set the wheels in motion. From that very first day, she’s been the steady hand and the quiet strength behind the scenes—the note maker, account keeper, bill payer, double checker, and the one who holds everyone—staff and students alike—accountable and on their best behaviour.

While the men have been busy running the shop floor and guiding students in the welding booths, Jann has been carrying just as heavy a load—making sure that everything off the floor is just as strong, stable, and successful. Without her dedication, there would be no doors to open, no approvals to keep, no foundation for the teaching to stand on.

She worked tirelessly applying for approvals to open a private career college, and to this day she continues to ensure every single ministry guideline is met. If you’ve ever called or stepped into Can-Weld over the past 26 years, chances are it was Jann’s voice, kindness, or care that first welcomed you.

Jann isn’t just the backbone of this business—she’s its heart. She is proof that the strength of Can-Weld doesn’t only come from sparks and steel, but from love, determination, and the quiet persistence that she brings every single day.

Here’s to Jann—the woman who turned a dream into reality, stands shoulder to shoulder with those who teach and lead, and continues to keep this school thriving.

🔈The CWB test session that was scheduled for Friday, August 15th has now been RESCHEDULED for Friday, AUGUST 22nd. If you were signed up to test this week, please call or email the office to confirm that this change still works for you.

Some of the Can-Weld family have the honour of participating in a charity golf tournament today held in memory of Matt Cousins, a former graduate whose life was tragically cut short in a car accident. We’re proud to support such a meaningful cause and to help keep Matt’s legacy alive. 💙
