Hey Vikings! May 17th is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Racism! On this day, there is an annual movement to push for LGBTQIA2S+ rights worldwide, pay attention to the problems LGBTQIA2S+ people face daily, and encourage action and support on both local and global scales. This day has been celebrated since 2004, and May 17th was chosen in order to mark the World Health Organization removing homosexuality from its International Classification of Diseases in 1990. Since then, this day has made a great impact in advancing LGBTQIA2S+ rights! Still, it is important to recognize that there is still discrimination and that the fight for these rights is ongoing.

May is Asian Heritage Month. It is an opportunity for us to learn more about the diverse culture and history of Asian communities in Canada, as well as to acknowledge the many achievements and contributions of people of Asian origin who, throughout our history, have done so much to make Canada the country we know and love.
