Wonderful Photography Exhibition today at Gulf Islands Secondary put on by the GISS Photography Class. We had about 250 staff and students go through the exhibit today and view the work and select their favourite in terms of 1. Which photograph helped you see something ordinary in an extraordinary way? 2. Which photograph made you feel something or captured a powerful mood? And 3. Which photograph made you curious, raised questions or told a story that stayed with you? We are so grateful for all the feedback provided. Thanks to everyone who came out to see the show. Shout out to our special guest (who sadly couldn’t make it because she was ill today!) GISS Photography Class will be hosting an Exhibition this Friday from 12pm to 4pm in the Multi. Come check out our show ‘Notice’ where students share their unique perspectives with original images that capture something worth noticing. Local professional photographer Bille Woods will be there as our special guest, as she has joined the class for some feedback sessions throughout the prep for this show. GISS Terry Fox Run event! A powerful assembly hosted by Athletic Leadership student’s Jaqueline K and Kit S. All students and staff did a couple laps around the route, inspired by Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. The grand total raised this year $1763.46!!! Thank you to everyone who donated and shout out to the GISS student leaders for all their work doing announcements, collecting donations and running the event. We should be so proud of our youth in this community! Thanks for digging deeper this year to support cancer research.

Terry Fox fundraising update for GISS. After two days we have raised a grand total of $1520.25! Amazing work. Thank you to everyone who has donated what they can for cancer research. We still will be collecting one more day, as tomorrow is our school’s Terry Fox Run. We will have donation jars at the assembly and you can still donate online. Search up the Terry Fix Run Schools page and find us under Gulf Islands Secondary. Anyone can donate through our page, help us reach our lofty goal of $5000 raised this year. Our Athletic Leadership and regular Leadership class will be leading the assembly and run tomorrow. Who will you be running for? Terry started it, and it’s up to us to FINISH IT! Terry Fox Fundraising happening! Athletic Leadership students in the Multi at lunch and class to class in C Block today. Still counting but hundreds of dollars raised today. Great job GISS! We can run and raise $5000 for Cancer Research this year. No more toonies…it’s time to dig deeper - $10 bucks for Terry! Donation Jar in the office and Athletic Leadership students Terry Fox Foundation will be going class to class to collect your donations. Let’s work together as a school community to honour the legacy of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope and let”s Finish It!
