Gr.8 Silver Star Trip CANCELLED - Tuesday Feb 11th.

Silver Star has cancelled all school trips tomorrow Tuesday Feb 11th due to safety concerns from the extreme cold weather. SMS and all regular scheduled classes will be continuing in session tomorrow Tuesday Feb 11th.

Mrs. Kallies' class is doing a fundraiser for our local "Shuswap Paws Rescue Society" in hopes of helping them to rescue, care for and find loving homes for some of our local animals in need.
If you have any of the following items to donate, please send it to school with your child. We also have a draw happening where kids can win a "Shuswap Paws" sweatshirt or t-shirt. We are asking $1.00 per ticket to enter the draw.

money donations (they have had a lot of emergency care cats/kittens coming in lately that need medical care)

We are excited to be holding a school wide Chess Tournament starting next week! Students will compete for points for their team in the Phoenix Games! We are so thankful for the generosity and support of the Salmon Arm Chess Club, who has kindly lent us the clocks and boards for the tournament! Super proud of our SMS students who raised over $700 for the Terry Fox Foundation. A special shout out to Everett in Mrs. Dewitts class who raised $360 in a personal fundraising campaign! Way to go everyone!

Morning basketball has begun on Monday, Wednesday, and every second Friday. Volleyball continues for Tuesday, Thursday and every second Friday.
This is open gym time for Grade 6, 7, and 8 players. All you need is gym strip and a desire to develop your skills. Start time is 7am!

Reminder our Parent Dessert Night is this evening 5:30 - 6:30. Come meet some of the staff, wander around the school and enjoy a tasty treat!

SMS will be participating in the Terry Fox run on Sept 25th, throughout the day. We encourage students to come prepared in comfortable footwear and clothing for that day. Students are also raising money to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. Our school has a goal of raising $350 and students who donate will be entered in a draw to win one of 3 awesome prizes.
