Somewhere on a back road, things started going sideways. A detour that added extra time, sap all over Theo's hands, my car navigation system not working.
My first instinct was to push through. Instead I stopped to focus on just one thing. Let my system catch up to what was actually happening instead of what my head thought needed to happen.
And things shifted. We still found our beautiful waterfall. It will just looked different, and I just started solving one problem at a time.
This is the thing about working from regulation instead of stress: it's not passive, it's not giving up ground. It's one small action, a pause, a breath, feet on solid ground, that changes what's possible next. Stress snowballs. So does steadiness.
What's one small action that can bring some steadiness to your day?

Halfway up the canyon wall, my brain started its old speech. You can't do this. You're not strong enough. Remember last time.
My body just kept climbing.
That's the gap right there. What my brain knows about me is years behind what my body has already proven.
I've done hard things before. My legs know it even when my mind forgets.
The resistance isn't a stop sign. It's the exact spot where the learning happens.
Every time I climb through it instead of believing it, something shifts. Small, but real.
Your body leads, and the rest follows.

Nobody talks about going from this... to this. But teardown doesn't get the highlight reel, and it's just as much a part of the story.
Huge thanks to every volunteer and staff who showed up (and keep showing up) to build the magic AND take it apart ROOTSandBLUES Festival
See you next year, Salmon Arm 🎪💛
The brought a heck of a lot of magic to the ROOTSandBLUES Festival this year!
What an incredible team of leaders and youth that will be our next leaders.
Stay tuned for more footage from the weekend... After I catch up on some sleep...💤
Tired body. Full heart. That's where I'm at this morning.
ROOTSandBLUES Festival kicks off this weekend, and last night's kickoff concert was pure joy. Acorn Music Salmon Arm brought five hundred shakers for the crowd and watching people of every age shake along Downtown Salmon Arm was the best kind of chaos. And the brought it's own kind of hype and delight!
It feels like there are about five thousand micro decisions for me before the gates open today. My brain is full.
But somatic work has taught me something I didn't have before: how to pause, even mid chaos, and just be where my feet are.
Cup of tea in hand. One more breath before the day starts.
This is the whimsy and the wisdom, living in the same body, same morning.
Wherever life may find you today,
may you find your groove. 🎶

Tonight the took flight at the WOW concert, bringing a little bit of magic that brings smiles to people's faces. Led by Kris Maddox-Brown and Robyn Anderson, these two families (and some of their friends) will be making appearances around the community all week.

A little peek behind the whimsy curtain, where play is something we take seriously.
This is the color, the movement, and the fun that happens when a group of people decide to create space for play!
None of this is polished. It's improvised. This is what happens in the inbetween. The magic of play, by its very nature, takes a life of its own and unfurls.
The has some of the best leaders I've ever worked with.
This crew is why the whole thing runs on joy instead of just logistics. Come experience it for yourself!
Whimsy is sneaking out of the festival grounds and into the community this week. This week, keep your eyes open in Downtown Salmon Arm and at the ROOTSandBLUES Festival
Confession: Miss Whimsy was a character that emerged from coordinating whimsy at the ROOTSandBLUES Festival
Somewhere along the way, she stopped staying there.
A scarf that was supposed to be costume only. A pair of earrings that were "just for her" at festival time. A lacy duster accent piece. One colorful piece at a time, she has crept into my actual, everyday wardrobe.
And honestly, why not?!
The line between "costume" and "self" gets blurry, and I've stopped trying to keep it clean. Most of us could use permission to play a little more!
So if you are out and about around the community or on the festival grounds this week, keep an eye out for our colorful wardrobes 🙂
