Received a call from a trucking yard at 9pm that there were bees on the side of a storage container and it was an emergency as they were worried an employee was going to get stung. I rushed right over and collected them. 😊
This was a rather large swarm but my bee-vac made sure I got them all contained and rehomed safely with zero stings. 🙌

When a swarm call turns into a cut out. 🐝
Had a call about a swarm on the soffit of an old farm house. 🏡
Usually when there are bees on the side of a building or in a tree they are just there in a temporary holding pattern until they find their new home. They prefer to be protected from the elements.
This time they had started to build comb like they were going to stay!
After I collected all the bees on the outside, I noticed there were still a lot coming and going through a small crack in the trim of the soffit. It could have been they were just exploring, but a quick check with my inspection camera revealed they had comb built inside as well.
Up to the attic I go.
Surprisingly there were almost as many bees inside the attic floor as there were outside!
I didn’t get many pictures of the inside. I get too focused on getting the job done. 😊
All the bees are now safely in a proper box at one of my bee yards. 😁

Old yellow brick farm houses are notorious for bees getting in 🐝
The mortar is old and if it hasn’t been repointed, it makes for an easy entry way for the bees. Add to that the way they are typically constructed with a double layer of brick and then ballon framing, followed by 1x8 board with lath and plaster on top. It makes the perfect cavity for bees to make their home.🏠
Luckily the home owners noticed this one and I was able to remove it before they could make too big of a nest.
The ladies are all safe in their new home.😊
