Invasive Mystery: One of our values is awareness. We have noticed over the last year that organisms are decreasing in numbers and new species are arriving. This last exploration revealed species I haven’t seen at the shoreline where we look for crabs. Take a look and see if you can spot the invasives.

You may see this set up in one of the fields at Ganong Nature Park. Our students are participating in a Nation wide science research to catalog insect DNA diversity.

The trap will be set up till the end of October and our samples will be shipped to the University of Guelph.

Please do not disturb the trap. Look with your eyes please.

Ran into this crew on Saturday at the Community Empowerment Fair. These are the first participants of Nature’s Backpack. Some I mentored before Nature’s Backpack was launched. Now they are in highschool. HIGHSCHOOL! The one in front, is now in Kindergarten! It was great seeing them and warms my heart to see the fine person of service and fine young adults they have become. You parent, all did a fantastic job raising them! ❤️
