Let them play. ✌🏼🌿

Learning doesn’t need to look like sitting at a desk, holding a pencil, and completing a worksheet.

For many children, especially boys under the age of 8, their brains and bodies are asking for movement, imagination, connection, exploration, and hands-on experiences.

Build with blocks.
Climb. Dig. Run.
Make up stories.
Play outside.
Count the rocks.
Measure the sticks.
Draw in the dirt.
Build the fort.
Play the game again and again.

Because while it may look like play, their brains are busy developing language, problem-solving, executive functioning, spatial awareness, motor skills, creativity, social skills, self-regulation, and confidence.

We don’t need to rush childhood in the name of learning.

Let them play.
Let them move.
Let them wonder.

I was the first one out the door
The first to stop pretending
I couldn’t do this anymore
Not because I stopped believing
In the children I was teaching
But because I believed in them
Enough to ask for more

I wasn’t broken
I wasn’t done
I just remembered
Why I became one

I was Patient Zero

The first one brave enough to go
Not because I stopped believing
But because I needed more
I didn’t leave the children
I left the system behind
To find a better way to teach them
And a better way to thrive

I was Patient Zero

Maybe I was just the start
One teacher choosing differently
Can open up a thousand hearts
Maybe leaving isn’t failure
Maybe it’s the first step toward
Building something better
Than the thing we left behind

If you’re standing in the hallway
With your keys still in your hand
Wondering if you’re selfish
For wanting something grand

Look at me—I’m still a teacher
I just teach a different way
I traded fluorescent ceilings
For more room to learn and play
I traded checking boxes
For knowing who they are
Surviving Mondays
For teaching from the heart

I was Patient Zero

The first one brave enough to go
Not the end of my story
Just the place I chose to grow
I still believe in children
More than ever before
I just stopped believing
They needed me behind that door

Call me Patient Zero
Maybe every revolution starts
With one teacher choosing differently
And listening to their heart

I didn’t leave the children.
I didn’t leave the call.
I left the system
Because I knew there had to be more.

And maybe I’m Patient Zero—
But I won’t be the last.

Yes, I can dress the part when needed, but truth be told, I can teach just as effectively in my jeans. 😉

Great teaching isn’t about the clothes you wear. It’s about the relationships you build, the environment you create, and the way you make children feel. 🍎✨

The outfit might change. The educator I am doesn’t. 💁🏻‍♀️

Allow me to introduce myself. 👋

I’m the girl who stepped away from her master’s with a 4.2 GPA.

The girl who walked away from 13 years in public education because she no longer believed the system was serving children the way it should.

The girl who chose uncertainty over staying somewhere that no longer aligned with her values.

Who traded a traditional classroom for a little learning space of her own.

Who believes education should be about more than grades and checking boxes.

It should be about connection.
Confidence.
Curiosity.
Movement.
Nature.
Meeting children where they are.

Sometimes the path you build for yourself begins with having the courage to leave the path you were told to follow.

And here I am. Building something that feels more like me. 👋☺️🍎🌿✨

Turns out, two really can be better than one. ✌🏼

There’s something special about learning alongside someone else. Sharing ideas. Taking turns. Cheering each other on. Learning that doesn’t feel quite so much like “work.”

I’m so happy with how these little pods are coming together already. Two learners. One shared space. So many opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive.

Here’s to the magic of learning together. ✌🏼🍎✨
