Bulldog parents, you're not going to want to miss this show! Our drama team announced that our musical this year will be High School Musical Junior! Over 70 students signed up to try out... they're excited! Students can still sign up outside Mme Urdang's room. Tryouts are after school on Thursday and Friday. If possible, we are asking for students in grade 6 to audition on Thursday, grade 8 to come on Friday, and grade 7 can come either day.

Good afternoon, bulldog families! Welcome to another edition of the Bulldog Bulletin.

Friday afternoon, Beac was bouncing with our first PBIS assembly of the year. We want to shout out our fantastic students who have been working hard to learn and follow our school-wide expectations. At the assembly, we celebrated our Bulldogs of the Month, Student Leaders, and Athletes of the month. We also celebrated all our Fall sports teams, and volunteers at open house and grade 6 day. Our PBIS assemblies are an important part of reviewing school wide expectations and celebrating our success.

We are excited to announce our drama production for the year, with a meeting and tryouts coming later in the week. Thanks to Mme. Urdang, Mrs. Barton, and Mr. Clark for the time they are committing to this production.

That’s it for me, let’s jump into the news.

Spirit Day: Monday is School Spirit Day! We encourage all students and staff to wear their school colours to show that school spirit.

Truth and Reconciliation Week: Thank you to everyone who participated in Truth and Reconciliation Week. Throughout the week, students and staff engaged in learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations that helped deepen our understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.

Grade 7 Immunization Clinic: Our Grade 7 immunization clinic will take place October 19th. Information was sent home to students through their homeroom teachers last week, and a letter was sent home to families through school messenger. Any questions about the clinic should be directed to Public Health, through public health nurse, Candice Duguay, [email protected]

Musical: This year's drama production is High School Musical Jr! We encourage all students to come to our information meeting Monday at lunch in Mme Urdang's Room to learn more, ask questions, and sign up for auditions.

Singing Practice: Mrs. Salmon is hosting a practice session for any interested students on Wednesday at lunch.

Auditions: Thursday & Friday after school until 4:00 p.m.

Everyone is welcome! Whether you're a future Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, or any part of the ensemble, we'd love to see you there! Getcha head in the game and join the fun!

Pictures: Picture day was last Thursday. Each student brought home a bar code that families can use to see their child’s pictures and to purchase packages with Photography Flewwelling. Retake day is October 29th. If your child was absent, they will have their picture taken on re-take day. If you would like your child to have retakes, sign the retake part of the card and send back to school by October 29th.

Pizza day: We are going to offer Pizza every Wednesday and Friday, until the provincial lunch program starts. Pizza is now available for purchase on Cashless schools online for this week. https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/

Youth Check In: This month, students will participate in this provincial survey. It is given to students twice a year and allows them to check in on mental health, school relevance, and school relationships. Results are returned quickly, which allows us to use current student voice data to guide support for the students we are working with right now.

Halloween Dance: Mark your calendars! Our annual Halloween Dance is scheduled for Thursday October 29th from 6pm to 8:30pm. The cost to get into the dance is $5, and there will be a canteen on site with snacks and pizza for purchase. A reminder that if a student is suspended the week of the dance, or absent the day of the dance, they are not permitted to attend.

PBIS Focus of the Week: We continue to teach and reinforce our behaviour expectations through our PBIS program (Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports). This week's focus is Outside Expectations.

School Supply fee: Thank you to everyone who has already submitted their forms and paid their student fee. The cost of supplies is included in the annual school fee of $54.00 and is payable through School Cash Online. Homeroom teachers will be reaching out to connect with anyone who has not yet paid for their school fee. If you are unable to afford the fee, please contact Mr. Matheson and arrangements will be made.

Terry Fox Walk and Roll: Families looking to donate can send their change, with their child to their homeroom teacher or donate through Cashless Schools. Every contribution, big or small, helps support cancer research. Our Terry Fox Walk and Roll is tentatively scheduled for October 29th with a rain date of October 30th.

This week's Bulldog Bulletin arrived in your inboxes and voicemails this afternoon. We have new clubs and activities starting, and Thursday is Picture Day!

Good afternoon, Bulldog families. Welcome to another edition of the Bulldog Bulletin! Can you believe September is almost over and we are already moving into October this week?

We have had a fantastic start-up at Beaconsfield, and things are really rolling. I encourage you to keep an eye on our clubs and activities lists, as we get more clubs and activities off the ground.

That’s it for me, let’s jump into the news.

Spirit Day: Monday is School Spirit Day! We encourage all students and staff to wear their school colours to show that school spirit.

Picture Day: A reminder that picture day is on Thursday, October 1st. There is no school on Wednesday, so please remember to remind your children to expect pictures on Thursday. Students will return home with a white card with their name and order information, as well as a yellow page with packages and prices. Orders will be due by October 15th. Retakes will be on October 29th. Only students who were absent or return the white card requesting retakes will have their picture taken on retake day.

PBIS Focus of the Week: We continue to teach and reinforce our behaviour expectations through our PBIS program (Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports). This week's focus will be Classroom Expectations.

School Supply fee: Thank you to everyone who has already submitted their forms and paid their student fee. The cost of supplies is included in the annual school fee of $54.00 and is payable through School Cash Online. If you are unable to afford the fee, please contact Mr. Matheson and arrangements will be made.

Terry Fox Walk: Over the next month, we are raising money for the Terry Fox Foundation. Last year we raised more than $700. This year, our goal is to raise more than that! If our students reach this goal, 3 lucky students will get to pie Mr. Matheson, Mr. Clark, or Mrs. Sabin in the face at a PBIS Assembly! Families looking to donate can send their change, with their child to their homeroom teacher or make a donation through Cashless Schools. Every contribution, big or small, helps support cancer research.

Orange Shirt Day and Truth & Reconciliation: September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and schools will be closed. This day is a Canadian day of memorial observed every year to honour residential school survivors, their families and communities. We wear orange shirts to remember Every Child Matters. Our school's Orange Shirt Day activities will take place on September 29th. We have a limited number of Orange Shirts, which were designed by students in ASDS available for purchase in the office for $10.

Note on Scooters and Bikes: At the side of the school, in the school yard, there are bike racks. Students can use these racks, at their own risk, and we suggest locks be used to secure items. Please understand we are unable to store bikes or scooters inside the school, due to limited space and storage areas.

Lunch program: We do have free lunches available in the office every day for anyone that needs one, as we wait for the implementation of the provincial lunch program. I will continue to forward updates regarding the provincial lunch program to families as they come available.

Tree Planting: This past Friday four different Beaconsfield classes were able to assist in planting trees and shrubs at the park across the street from the school. In partnership with the City of Saint John and with ACAP Saint John, our students were able to have this great hands-on learning activity.

Beaconsfield is fortunate to have the support of many generous community partners and friends throughout the year. This fall, Dooley’s Prince Edward Square donated backpacks and school supplies, and also provided a generous financial contribution to help ensure our students have access to food at school. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69 donated funds and school supplies raised through their bingo events, while the local Food Bank supplied additional school materials for students. We are deeply grateful for their kindness, generosity, and ongoing commitment to supporting our school community. We love working together to support our community!

Today, students who are interested in joining Student Leadership met in the gym at lunch. What a turn out! Over 80 students want to be involved! These students help out in a variety of ways at school, from volunteering for events, to planning spirit weeks, helping out behind the scenes, and more. It was great to see so many want to be involved!
