UNB Saint John - Nursing and Health Sciences

UNB’s newly unified faculty of nursing and health sciences—now the largest of its kind in the province by student enrolment—creates scale, enhances efficiency and strengthens collaboration across campuses, enabling deeper integration of research, scholarly work and collaborative teaching while remaining firmly student‑centred.

It marks an important milestone for the university and for health care education in New Brunswick.

From state‑of‑the‑art simulation and the Learn Where You Live program, to a first‑of‑its‑kind dual degree nursing partnership with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India, the faculty is:

- Educating more nurses
- Expanding access to high‑quality education across the province
- Strengthening ethical, sustainable international partnerships
- Advancing research, collaboration, and workforce readiness

Most importantly, it is helping to build a stronger, more resilient health care system for New Brunswick.

UNB EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING STIPEND PROGRAM – APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!

Are you taking a Fall 2025 course with an unpaid placement, practicum, or community project? You might qualify for up to $1,000 to help cover transportation, supplies, childcare, or other costs.

This program is designed to help remove barriers to participation in experiential learning opportunities. This funding is made possible through the Government of New Brunswick Department of Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour’s Future New Brunswick/Future Wabanaki program.

Each night will feature an opening short film followed by a feature film; there will also be time at the end of each evening to discuss the films together.

Events will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Ganong Hall Lecture Theatre.

Tuesday, September 23rd

Opener: Wabano: The light of Day (2022)

Feature: WaaPaKe (Tomorrow) (2023): Employing a range of innovative cinematic means, WaaPaKe (Tomorrow) asks the difficult question: “Who are we without our pain?” This deeply personal documentary unravels the tangled threads of silence endured by residential school Survivors, exploring themes of truth, freedom, and power.


Wednesday, September 24th

Opener: Kehkimin: Teach Me (2023)

Feature: Wilfred Buck (2024): Moving between earth and stars, past and present, this hybrid documentary follows the extraordinary life of Wilfred Buck, a charismatic and irreverent Cree Elder who overcame a harrowing yet familiar history of displacement, racism and addiction by reclaiming ancestral star knowledge and ceremony.
