Back by popular demand: The Free Store is back this October for Sustainability Month!

UNB Sustainability is excited to relaunch this highly anticipated initiative, offering students, faculty, and staff a chance to recirculate usable goods. Every single item is free of charge.

Throughout October, both campuses will be hosting Free Store events.

Ganong Hall Gallery
Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

We invite you to donate gently used items such as clothing, kitchenware, décor, and entertainment items or stop by to shop at no cost. By accepting unwanted items and redistributing them within our campus network, this initiative reduces landfill waste and actively supports a circular economy model here at UNB.

Please note that donations will only be accepted during store hours.

TEDx is coming back to the UNB Saint John campus next year in March 2027!

TEDx UNB Saint John is an independently organized event bringing together students, faculty, alumni and members of the wider Saint John community to share ideas worth spreading.

TEDx UNB Saint John is currently accepting applications for the role of both speakers and executive members of the event. This is a great chance for members of our community to add their ideas and perspectives to the conversation.

If you are you interested in participating? Simply scan the QR code below for more information about how to apply. If any questions, reach out to [email protected]

I am excited to see what ideas will come from our UNB and Saint John community!

While creating a vision board for her work-study position as an Indigenous Youth Coordinator at the University of New Brunswick, Kaitlyn Pelletier didn't know exactly what project she wanted to pursue. One image, however, kept coming back to her: a birchbark canoe. A member of Madawaska Maliseet First Nation, Pelletier soon discovered that curiosity was leading her toward a much larger journey.

Now, Pelletier is building a traditional birchbark canoe while learning from Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and experienced canoe builders from New Brunswick and Maine.

In a recent Q&A, she shared what inspired the project, what she's learned so far, and what she hopes its legacy will be. Read it here ➡️ https://bit.ly/4ytN9dG

This past week, we recognized International Week of Deaf People, which this year is centred on the theme Declaring Deaf People's Human Rights.

At UNB, accessibility is a human rights responsibility. We are committed to identifying and removing barriers so that Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, faculty and staff can participate equitably in university life.

Through our Student Accessibility Centres, students can access a range of services, accommodations, and supports designed to help them succeed throughout their academic journey. Learn more about the Student Accessibility Centres and available supports: https://www.unb.ca/academics/support/accessibility.html

As an expression of our strides toward a better tomorrow, we encourage the UNB community to place an orange heart in residence and office windows across our campus.

This gesture, proposed by Indigenous Elders and leaders at UNB, honours the children who never returned home from residential schools and supports the families and communities mourning their loss.

Orange hearts are available for pickup at the following locations:

🧡 Office of the Registrar (Oland Hall 132)
🧡 Indigenous Student Services (Oland Hall G08)
