Saint John Jewish Historical Museum The museum will be open by appointment only from November 7, 2022 to May 23, 2023. Visitors will also be able to see the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue.

Summer Hours, June 1, 2026 to November 4, 2026
Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm, Sunday (July and August and cruise ship days), 1 pm to 4 pm The museum will reopen on May 23, 2023 through November 7, 2023 with regular hours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from Monday and Friday, additionally the doors will be open on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 pm during July and August. The feature exhibit for 2023 will be "Coming of Age: Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations"" Additional exhibits are "From the Cradle to the Grave: Jewish Holy Days and Way of Life" and "Starting a New Life: Holocaust Survivors in New Brunswick". Museum admission fee of $5.00/adult or $10.00/family (2 parents and children up to age 16) . Appointments available for group tours, library research and education kits. Explore the Jewish history of Saint John through stories, photographs and artifacts.

Hyman Rosenzweig died in Boston on October 11, 1950 at age 69. He was listed in the Saint John City Directory as a junk dealer in 1920. His wife may have been Ada Rosenzweig who died in 1959.

Rose Featherman died of cancer on Monday, October 14, 1963, leaving her husband, Albert and teenaged children, Sidney and Sarah. Rose was born in Sighet, Romania to Rabbi Ephraim Eliezer Wiezel and his wife Regina. There were also three brothers - David, Vilhelm, and Israel. Rose was a survivor of the Holocaust and married her husband in the DP camp near Bergen-Belsen. Their oldest child was born in the camp in 1947 ten months before they arrived in Canada with the sponsorship of her cousins Herman and Joseph Wiezel.

Harry Baig died on October 22, 1910. He was the son of David and Sarah Baig and had a sister Rose Bloch. He lived in Moncton with his wife Sarah Komiensky and they had six children. He was working as a junk dealer when he died. Newspaper reports at the time of his death reported that he was suffering from a mental illness. He had been arrested in Moncton for causing a disturbance on board the train to Saint John and was later found dead by su***de in his jail cell.

Aida Jacobson Kashetsky died on September 26, 1974 at the age of 71. She married Israel Kashetsky and they lived on Spring Street until moving to Montreal in the early 1960s. They raised two children – Esther and Irwin. Esther (Spector) lives in Montreal and Irwin died in 2018. She is buried in the Baron de Hirsh Cemetery in Montreal.
