This afternoon, I set up a fine motor invitation in the tuft tray. I filled the tray with water and pom poms and provided tweezers, squeezers, and cups for the children to explore.

The children experimented with different tools to scoop, squeeze, pick up, and transfer the pom poms.

This activity encouraged fine motor development, hand eye coordination, and problem solving while allowing the children to explore the materials at their own pace.

Exploring Different Emotions 😊

The children have been enjoying book about different emotions, so I created Velcro emotion faces to give them an opportunity to talk about how they are feeling.
As we read the book, we talked about each emotion and I invited the children to take a Velcro emotion and guess which emotion was being shown. The children were very engaged and had so much fun matching the emotions!
I also asked the children some open-ended questions, such as, “What do you like to do when you feel sad?” Some children said, “I cry,” while connecting their answer to the girl who was crying in the picture. This gave us an opportunity to talk about how everyone can express their feelings in different ways.
We also had lots of fun making silly and funny faces. The children especially loved copying different facial expressions and making each other laugh.
After our walk on Friday, we took some cute pictures, and the children enjoyed saying “cheese!” 📸😊 It was a fun way to end our day while continuing to explore emotions through play, conversation, and facial expressions.

Today, our little frogs hopped their way into the art area for a fun and creative painting experience! The children dipped the frogs’ feet into paint and then carefully placed them on their papers, watching as each little hop left behind a unique frog print.

There was lots of excitement as the children experimented with hopping, stamping, and moving the frogs across their papers. They noticed how the prints changed depending on how much paint was on the frog’s feet and how they moved the frog.

This process art experience encouraged children to explore cause and effect, creativity, and self-expression while also strengthening their fine motor skills as they grasped, dipped, and moved the frogs. The children were also developing hand-eye coordination and learning that art can be created in many different and unexpected ways.

Most importantly, the children had fun watching their frogs “hop” across the page and seeing the colourful prints they created! 🐸🎨

Her child enjoys a good dangle, today was graduation and Kiera knew a graduation hat would not be kept on so what did Kiera do? Made a graduation dangle!!! inclusion at its best ❤️

Critical thinking is important for children because it helps them think for themselves instead of simply accepting everything they hear, see or not see.
