High Risk Clone: A Proposal of Criteria Adapted to the One Health Context with Application to Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli in the Pig Population The definition of a high risk clone for antibiotic resistance dissemination was initially established for human medicine. We propose a revised definition of a high risk clone adapted to the One Health context. Then, we applied our criteria to a cluster of enrofloxacin non susceptible ETEC:F4 isolate...

Veterinary Services ensure that is implemented at farms.

They work with farmers:

✔️ to ensure that livestock are in optimal conditions
✔️ to perform risk assessment when animal disease outbreaks occur
✔️ to vaccinate livestock to protect their health and welfare

This contributes to protecting and .

Microbiology Monday: In the preantibiotic era, the presence of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms was rare. The introduction of antibiotics led to killing of antibiotic-susceptible populations and selection for resistance among present-day bacterial populations.

Resistance spreads through the selection of the minority antibiotic-resistant populations already present as well as dispersion of transferable mechanisms of resistance on mobile DNA. No transferable mechanisms of quinolone resistance were described until 1998; since then, 3 clinically relevant mechanisms of quinolone resistance have been discovered within mobile elements. Learn more about transferable quinolone resistance in a recent Clinical Microbiology Reviews article: https://skyw.io/p7zerC
