My daycare service is a place full of love and affection. The parents and children who are at my service are to receive great attention. They will know all that happens and are welcome to come in the service at any time. It’s very important to have the involvement of the parents. To have good relations between parents and Responsible we need: respect, confidence, empathy and communication which are very important to me. I always tell my new clients that we work as a team to raise their children. If there are problems or things to be said, we make time to communicate and to listen to each other. The structure of my milieu is located in the basement. There is closed storage for almost all the toys & equipment needed to work with your children. It is inviting, interactive, very large playroom, open, bright natural light because of many large windows, well organized & stimulating and full of opportunity to develop. There is a kitchen in the basement as well for meals times and crafts. The bathroom is very accessible to the children. No hot water there to prevent burns, no doors to prevent injuries. I make sure daily that there is nothing that presents a danger to the children or the parents. There is routine for the children which is very important for them. There are certain toys always available to the children. All the others are behind cabinet doors. These toys are taken out in rotation or when a child requests certain games or toys. This is a way that I can have control over the mess, and a way of making sure that all children play with all elements available to help their development. There is a large outdoor play area. This is fenced in and has many ride on toys and sport equipment and climbing structures & mini trampoline available. We do have the Parc de la Cite (lake & trails) close to which we can walk to. The activities and play toys that I can offer to the children are of range for all levels and ages. I have material to help the children develop in the fields of cognitive, social & moral, language, physical & motor skills, affection & sympathy. Here are just a few that I can offer….
• Many different blocks
• Kitchen and dolls corner
• Cars, trucks, tracks, etc…
• Puzzles, games, etc…
• Musical instruments, music to listen to, etc…
• Science supplies
• Arts and crafts
• Ride on, sports equipment
• Books
• Etc…
I do crafts, small motor skill activities, and outdoor play for large motor skills activities; there are moments that will reflect morals from story time to and everyday opportunities, social skills, to share, communicate with each other, respect feelings and more that are very important. The group has the opportunity to play solitary, parallel or as a group. I believe that a child should be able to play freely. I am there to guide them. Some components that are important to me, that children are to learn is to be self dependant. I set up my milieu to help the children develop independence by them dressing themselves and having their outdoor wear available to them at their height. Can wash hands alone because a stool is there for them to have access to sink & soap. They can get their own beds out for nap & pick up too. These are a few examples. Even a child of 12 – 18 months can do many things for themselves and my parents love it. They can pick up the toys & put them in the right container because photos are on them to visually help the child. Also, the aspect of helping others is strongly taught. I teach the children to verbally express themselves and not to use violence to solve their problems. (Meaning, no biting, hitting, pushing, etc…) I work with the children to learn about their self-esteem. (Ex, when a child does crafts or builds a tower with blocks and asks is this good, do I like it. I will ask the child how he or she feels about what they did. I will explain that how they feel about what they do is more important then what others think or I may say.) These are some ideas of the things that I work with the children on a daily bases. Components to develop physical & motor skills are:
• Recognize the physical needs: eating, sleeping, toilet training
• Large motor skills: move, run, climb, throw, maintain balance, lift & more
• Fine motor skills: hold, mold, use tools(pencils for example) language, coordinating hand-eye movements
• Senses: tastes, touch, feel etc…
Components of social & moral skills are:
• Discovery of the others & conscience
• Dialog, cooperation, solving conflicts
• Respecting rules
Components for affection are:
• Self esteem & confidence
• Autonomy , individual identity, attachment to others
Components for cognitive development:
• Memory, concentration
• Logic, creativity
There is also the language to develop. When there are situations that involve incorrect behavior with the children, I will tell them what I expect from them and tell them what they did incorrect. I am a mostly democratic, with some directive approach. The consequences are consistent, short, clear, concrete & are there to keep the group safe. The discipline is age appropriate, not affecting their self-esteem. Thanks

I have received our new climbing dome setup that will be installed in the daycare's backyard area. Constructed from plastic, this apparatus is durable and easy to manage, suitable for indoor and outdoor environments. All kids are expected to enjoy this new addition, which will be in place by the end of the day.

Not every behavior means the same thing — and that’s why understanding the difference matters. 🧠✨
Many childhood conditions can sometimes look similar on the surface, but the reasons behind the behaviors are very different. That’s why awareness, observation, and proper professional assessment are so important.
Let’s break it down in a simple way 👇
Autism often shows up through social communication differences and sensory processing needs. A child may have limited eye contact, prefer routines, show repetitive movements, experience speech delays or echolalia, and be highly sensitive to sound, touch, or light. These are not “bad behaviors” — they are ways the child experiences and responds to the world.
ADHD is mainly connected to attention regulation, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. A child may be easily distracted, struggle to stay focused, talk a lot, fidget constantly, and act before thinking. It is not about laziness or lack of discipline. Their brain simply processes stimulation and attention differently.
Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by an extra chromosome (Trisomy 21). Children may have developmental delays, lower muscle tone, certain physical characteristics such as upward slanting eyes or a flatter facial profile, and sometimes associated health conditions like congenital heart defects. It is a lifelong condition, but with the right support many children thrive beautifully.
Childhood schizophrenia is much rarer and involves psychosis-related symptoms. This may include hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, social withdrawal, or unusual behaviors. It typically appears later in childhood compared to autism or ADHD and requires urgent professional mental health support.
ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) is more focused on persistent behavioral and emotional patterns, such as frequent anger, irritability, argumentativeness, deliberate defiance, blaming others, and vindictive behavior. This goes beyond occasional childhood stubbornness and tends to be ongoing and disruptive.
✨ The key difference is understanding the root cause.
For example:
• avoiding eye contact in autism may come from sensory discomfort or communication style
• not paying attention in ADHD may come from executive function difficulties
• defiant behavior in ODD may be linked to emotional regulation and control struggles
• unusual thoughts or hallucinations point toward psychosis-related concerns
• developmental and physical traits may indicate a genetic condition like Down syndrome
Sometimes these conditions can coexist, which makes diagnosis more complex. For example, a child can be autistic and also have ADHD. That’s why self-diagnosing based on one chart alone is never enough.
This post is meant for awareness, not diagnosis.
Every child is unique. Two children with the same diagnosis may look completely different.
The goal is not to label children quickly — the goal is to understand them better.
Early support can make a life-changing difference in communication, learning, emotional wellbeing, and confidence. 💙
If you notice ongoing patterns that affect daily life, learning, or relationships, speaking with a pediatrician, psychologist, speech therapist, or developmental specialist can be the best next step.
Understanding children starts with compassion, not assumptions. 🌱
