New instrument, new challenge!

I received an oud as a gift this week, and have started attempting to learn Arabic music scales on it. It has 11 strings, and it's fretless, so tricky to play well. Working on my first song, "The Rest of the Night is Like This", by Yemeni musician Abdel Rab Idris.

"I’m very excited to say that The Show is back for year 11! This year it will take place on Friday, September 18th, 2026 from 7 pm to 10 pm at the City Arts Space.

We just went live with our Call for Bands/Artists late last week and I’m hoping, as always, that you can share this opportunity with your music students. Solo artists or a duo are also encouraged, especially if they have some original songs.
