Today, on World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate our teachers and the countless ways they help students learn, grow and find their way.

The questions. The encouragement. The second tries. The small breakthroughs. The moments that may go unnoticed by everyone except the student who needed them.

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, Survivors, their families and communities.

Learning about the history connected to Truth and Reconciliation means confronting painful truths about residential schools and colonialism, while also understanding their ongoing impacts today.

It also asks us to consider our responsibility in the ongoing work of reconciliation, because what we do with what we learn matters.
→ Building respectful relationships.
→ Listening with openness.
→ Considering our own role.
→ Taking meaningful action.

Reconciliation is ongoing, and so is our responsibility and commitment to listen, learn and act.
