This summer, fourth year Psychology and Philosophy student Emily Leblanc completed a DYO Future NB internship with Graystone Counselling & Consulting, a trauma-informed mental health practice that provides counselling and psychotherapy services in Moncton.

Throughout the summer, Emily got to work directly with Cara Beth Elliott, Clinical Director and Family Therapist, supporting the daily operations of the practice and the organizational systems that allow for effective client care.

One of Emily’s biggest projects this summer was supporting the Voices Within event in downtown Moncton - featuring dance presentations, music therapy, and info booths.

Here is Emily (left) standing with her activity that encourages people to let go of heavy or negative-self talk and pick up a lighter more encouraging thought.

Dr. Cheryl Veinotte-Mackey’s Intro to Restorative Justice course explored the application of restorative approaches through case studies and a symposium. This is experiential course was generously funded by Future NB.

“The experiential component allowed for students to have an opportunity to learn more about what restorative approaches can look like in action by listening to a range of practitioners from both on and off campus share about their own work in this field and in their daily lives.”
