More from Conestoga College ...
Joined the English Language Studies & English for Academic Studies School of Interdisciplinary Studies (online)
as faculty at Conestoga College! Week 1 complete -- and such a joy! https://www.conestogac.on.ca/fulltime/english-for-academic-studies
While some may not think about the stability and comfort a full-time job brings, every year for the last 23 years I have worried over the summer whether I would have a teaching assignment when September rolled around.
Mark would always tell me not to worry, that I always found work. But ... it IS stressful and it is hard not to worry when and from where the next paycheck is coming from.
I have had ONE full-time job in my entire life! I left that full-time teaching job in Sudbury to move back home after cancer and a divorce all in the same year ... to Mom and Dad and the comforts of family. And ... I decided to stay!
I am so grateful for all of the teaching experiences I've had -- even the tough ones! Those work and life experiences have brought me here - to a wonderful home on the lake, the kindest, most thoughtful, and most supportive spouse ever!, great friends, family - and an amazing life with so much to be grateful for.
We forget sometimes ... to say "chi-miigwetch" for all we have. There are so many others in the world suffering ... and those who come to Canada to seek a better life. We complain about the smallest things living in such a rich and safe country. We have that luxury.
WHICH BRINGS ME TO ... I know what I am doing this fall for work!
Although not full-time (does that even happen anymore?), I have been asked to join as faculty in Conestoga College's English Studies Program - with some much-needed stability! This means I am teaching newcomers to Canada - my first love in teaching!
Not only am I currently teaching in the summer Program, but have been asked to teach again in the Fall! YAY!
As the sun shines, and we head into the long weekend, I just felt compelled to share my joy and say out loud how very grateful I am for all that has come to me - and especially this year!
Hoping that you can take a moment too to reflect on the good things in life! 🥰🐾😎🤣🇨🇦
