Our Touchstones of Extraordinary Education

Extraordinary Education happens when:

1. We recognize each learner as an individual, possessing different needs and unique gifts.
2. We maintain strong, healthy relationships between staff, students and parents.
3. We pursue academic excellence across a broad and challenging curriculum.
4. We employ creative teaching methods to ensure that everyone is learning.
5. We encourage students to learn actively, inside and outside the classroom, in the natural world and in the wider community.
6. We respect and nurture the development of curiosity, critical thinking, self-discipline and self-worth.

What does Junior Kindergarten look like at Touchstone? Come along and see! 💛

A yoga stretch, a field trip, a discovery in Outdoor Pursuits, a big idea taking shape in Makerspace. Our JKs have a lot to explore and they’re right in the middle of school life!

With teachers who know them well and encourage their curiosity, our youngest students build friendships, find their confidence, and develop early academic skills through days full of play, questions, and discovery.

They’re four. They have big ideas. And there’s room for all of them here.

The early years matter. A lot. 💙

A child’s foundational years are one of the most important times to invest in their learning. These are the years when the building blocks for future learning, confidence, and academic growth are formed.

At Touchstone, small classes and individual attention mean we can make the most of those years by giving children the time, support, and challenge they need while they’re building that foundation.

Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten registration is now open for September 2027.

Learning beyond the classroom 🌊🌿

Field trips give our students the chance to learn on the move! Students explore, ask questions, make discoveries, and experience their learning firsthand. Getting outside and into our community brings learning to life in a way that can’t always happen within the classroom.

Mindful Mondays 🧘‍♀️ Every Monday, our students slow things down with yoga in PE class. Building balance, strength and focus to get the week started.

And really, what better way to end a Monday than in Savasana?

A great way to kick off the year! 🎉 Our school community came together to catch up with friends, meet new families, and enjoy some BBQ and games!

Thank you to our wonderful Board members for putting together such a fun day!

First field trip of the year! 🌊🦀 Touchstone students headed to New River Beach, where students and staff from UNB helped us explore marine life in the tidal pools and discover what’s living along our shoreline. Lots of learning on the move, with plenty of time for some beach fun too! ☀️🐚

Makerspace Mondays mean creating, building, imagining, and trying again! 🛠️🎨

Makerspace is part of our week, every week, giving all students from JK-Grade 5 time to turn their ideas into something they can see, test and improve. It’s opportunities like this that help build creativity, problem-solving, independence and confidence!

There’s always something to be created! 💡✂️📦
