Wildfires can change everything in a matter of minutes. With recent storms sparking fires close to home, now is the perfect time to make sure you're prepared. 🙌

One of the easiest ways to get ready? Pack a grab-and-go emergency kit. Having your essentials in one place means you can leave quickly if an evacuation order comes with little warning.

Preparedness doesn't take long, but it can make all the difference when it matters most.

Give FireSmart BC a follow and tap the "Prepare" 🔗 in their bio for tips on building your own emergency kit and creating a wildfire-ready plan. 🔥🎒

Wildfires can send embers long distances – igniting fires on your home when embers build up on deck or ground surfaces at the base of exterior walls. 😯🔥

Reduce ember ignitions by installing a 15 cm (6 inch) metal flashing strip at the base of exterior walls to protect siding from ember ignition.

Rossland’s FireSmart Rebate program will pay you for labour costs and any materials you purchase. 🙌

🌲 Cedar hedges and juniper bushes may look beautiful, but they can create a serious wildfire hazard around your home.

These highly flammable plants will ignite and can easily move fire towards your house and ignite it.

The good news? Rossland’s FireSmart program is here to help! Homeowners can receive rebate funding to remove these fire hazards and replace them with more fire-resistant landscaping options.
