Meet Rianna | EAL Facilitator 🐴
For Rianna, the connection with horses began long before becoming an Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator.
As a little girl, she would watch her neighbours’ horses and dream of a life where horses were part of her everyday world. She took every opportunity she could to ride, learn, care for horses, and eventually experience the joy and responsibility of having horses of her own.
As she grew, that love expanded.
Rianna discovered an equally deep passion for people and for witnessing growth, healing, and meaningful change. While completing her undergraduate studies in Psychology, she began exploring the science behind the human-horse connection and finally found language for something she had intuitively understood since childhood: there is something incredibly powerful about the way we experience ourselves in the presence of horses.
Her journey later introduced her to relational horsemanship, which transformed the way she approached horses altogether. Rather than asking, “What can this horse do for me?” she began asking, “What does this horse need from me?”
That philosophy continues to shape the facilitator and horsewoman she is becoming today. Rianna believes in meeting the horse as a sentient partner, honouring their needs, listening to their communication, and creating experiences rooted in relationship rather than simply asking horses to participate in our work.
While completing her Equine Assisted Learning certification, Rianna reached out to Whispering Mare looking for guidance and connection. What began as mentorship has grown into something we feel incredibly grateful for.
Today, Rianna brings her love of horses, background in psychology, curiosity, compassion, and relational approach to our team and the people we have the privilege of walking alongside.
In Rianna’s words, our paths crossed as we continue learning how to love people through working with horses.
We couldn’t think of a more beautiful way to describe this work.
Welcome to the herd, Rianna.
