Wild Wander won't be happening this weekend cause the huckleberry patch is really huckling right now...

We will be deep in the woods, far from cell service!!

Have a happy weekend, forager fam!!

Ever heard of a walking onion??

This lil buddy doesn't produce seeds... it grows a little cluster of onions instead.

When those little onion clusters get too heavy they fall over and plant themselves.

Hence the name "walking onion".

We will have limited sets available in the fall!

What's your fave perennial vegetable??

Everyone's learning from AI these days.

We're running on much older technology! πŸ˜…πŸ‘‡

AE β€” Authentic Experience.

The original operating system.

There's no replacing muddy boots, stained fingers, smoky clothes... or the excitement of finding your first edible plant. πŸ₯³πŸŒΏ

No app can teach you what it feels like to kneel in the moss, taste something you've harvested yourself, and begin seeing the landscape with new eyes.

That's what Back Forty Foragers will always be about.

Slowing down. Paying attention. Building confidence and most importantly... sharing knowledge that's been passed from person to person!

And listen... we know technology has its place. But some things can't be taught through a screen....

They have to be felt... experienced... and LIVED.

Our to***co is starting to flower!!

Did you know you can grow your own to***co here in Canada?

This variety is native to South America and only gets to be about 3ft tall!

Amazing that we can grow it to maturity here in Zone 3.

Our other variety will grow to be about 6ft tall and have beautiful, fragrant pink flowers!!

Have you ever tried growing your own to***co?

We've been getting lots of messages about our private foraging walks...

So here it is folks..

After spending my life in these foothills... ranching, homesteading, hunting, harvesting... I want to walk your land (or mine) for two hours and hand you back a completely different relationship with it.

Not "here's a pretty flower," but "here's what you can eat, what heals what, and how not to poison yourself doing it."

Private walks mean it's just your people, your pace, your questions... and no distractions.

🌿

$120 covers your immediate family (up to 6) β€” extra folks are $20 each. Kids under 14 are free.
First 20km of travel's on me, $0.60/km after that.

Booking into August, with a couple spots still open this month.

Comment here or Message us directly β€” let's get outside!! πŸ„πŸŒΏ

Well, this is a first. πŸ˜‚

Facebook just rejected my ad for the July 25th workshop because apparently I'm...

"promoting edible cannabis."

For reference, the photo in question is me holding... lamb's quarters. A wild vegetable.... That grows in literally every garden and ditch in Alberta.

The audacity of this plant to look vaguely leafy and green near a human hand. 🌿☠️

Anyway.... the algorithm thinks I'm a drug lord, so I guess we're doing this the old fashioned way.

If you've been thinking about joining us July 25th, this is your sign!!!

Tell a friend. Share this post. Let's see if humans can do what Facebook's AI apparently cannot: recognize a wild vegetable. πŸ˜†πŸŒΏ
