I am obsessed with this book for so many reasons!
 
My little one has been picking this as her bedtime story for the past week and I am so happy about it! The pictures are so cute; there is a mix of real and cartoon drawings! The story line is also adorable and the minimal words on each page make it great for my 2-year-old to enjoy the whole way through!

If you are trying to replicate school at home you are missing the point!

We are learning all day everyday!
When we are making food – we are learning!
When we are exploring outside – we are learning!
When we are building – we are learning!
When we are at the park with friends – we are learning!
 
I am trying really hard to not replicate the traditional school at home.

As frustrating as this can be, because it is messy, oh so messy, it is also a learning opportunity for your child! 
Some examples are, cause and effect (when I squeeze this, it oozes), textures (what is slimy and cold or scratchy etc.) and fine motor skills.
 
If dinnertime isn’t the best time for this kind of play, give your little one opportunities to do this at other moments during the day.

Mess=play and learning!

Often these pictures are a tiny snippet of their play. We usually see perfect pictures online, but we are so messy over here! Yes, these first pictures might show the fun “perfect” play, but the other pictures show the wild mess. This took a lot of time to clean up. I had to change outfits when done but the joy and fun the children had was worth it. They learned so much by having the freedom to play and make a mess!

I love this story! This boy has a sea adventure with his parents all while using his imagination on the living room rug…...
