Modern Fire Dynamics Training — Atlantic Canada

Fire behavior has changed. Construction has changed. The fireground demands we adapt.

DCI’s Modern Fire Dynamics course is rapidly becoming a go-to training session for departments across Atlantic Canada—and for good reason.

🔥 Modern Fires. Faster Failures. Higher Risk.

Today’s structures burn hotter, faster, and collapse sooner. Lightweight construction, engineered components, and high heat-release contents leave crews with less time to make critical decisions.

This 3-hour session delivers clear, practical insight into how fire behaves in modern buildings—so your team can operate smarter and safer when it matters most.

✅ Understand today’s fire behavior
✅ Adjust tactics to match modern risks
✅ Improve decision-making on the fireground

Be ready for the fires you’re actually facing.

Solar installations are growing fast across Atlantic Canada—are you keeping pace?

Firefighters & the “Toxic Twins” – A Deadly Threat 🚨

Every fire produces Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN)—together known as the “Toxic Twins.” These gases attack the body’s ability to absorb and use oxygen, leading to disorientation, loss of consciousness, and death.

🔥 Why Firefighters Must Be Aware:
❌ CO + HCN = Deadly Synergy – Exposure to both is far more dangerous than either alone.
❌ They’re Invisible Killers – Colorless, odorless, and rapidly absorbed into the body.
❌ IDLH Environments Are NOT Just at the Fire Scene – Overhaul & post-fire operations still pose exposure risks.

✅ SCBA Use Is Non-Negotiable – Wear it through overhaul!
✅ Air Monitoring Saves Lives – Know when it’s truly safe to remove SCBA.
✅ Medical Awareness – CO & HCN poisoning symptoms mimic exhaustion—don’t ignore the warning signs!

🚨 Firefighters: Protect Yourself from the Toxic Twins. 🚨
