Chatham - Kent's Celebration of Youth Awards is one example of the YMCA's commitment to invest in young people. Recognized regionally as one of Ontario's most prestigious awards for youth, the Celebration of Youth honors local youth, 17-20 years of age whose outstanding talents and achievements have made a difference in our community. The awards focus on youth who have demonstrated leadership, sensitivity to others, innovation, development of personal talents, overcoming personal challenges and service to community. Special consideration is given to youth faced with financial barriers.

Award recipients embody the YMCA core values of:

Caring - we can be trusted to do the right thing;
Honesty - We keep our promises, and we do what we say we will;
Respect - We believe in the good within people;
Responsibility - We are leaders, and set an example for others;
Inclusiveness - We create a place for everyone at the YMCA.

After completing a comprehensive application and interview process, the successful recipients will receive a $1,000 award. Please note – awards are not academic-based, but rather a commitment to and demonstration of YMCA core values within the applicants’ community, schools, teams etc.

It's that time of year! Graduation is quickly approaching and so are SCHOLARSHIP application deadlines. Students and families please continue to check google classroom as reminders and opportunities' are shared weekly. Options are also available on the LKDSB website. We strongly encourage all students with post secondary plans to apply!

🍪 Smile Cookie Week – Supporting Our School Nutrition Program

April 27 – May 3

We are excited to share that our school has been selected as one of the local recipients of the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign.

This means that cookies purchased at our local Tim Hortons will directly support our school’s nutrition program, helping provide healthy snacks and meals to our students.

Why it matters:
• Many students rely on school nutrition programs each day
• Funds raised stay within our local school community
• Every cookie purchased helps ensure students have access to food to learn and succeed

How you can support:
• Purchase Smile Cookies from April 27 to May 3
• Pre-order cookies using the form available in the office at RDHS
• Share with family and friends
