We’re looking for an Indigenous Designer-in-Residence to join our community and bring their creativity, perspective, and practice to our school! This residency is open to established or emerging Indigenous designers, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit designers working across a range of design disciplines.

We'd like to congratulate two of our recent graduates, Destiny Lang and Alexandra Mercier, on their outstanding achievements.

Destiny Lang, a graduate of the Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Technology program, was awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Medal for Inclusion, Democracy and Reconciliation. On behalf of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, this medal recognizes a graduate who has made outstanding contributions to inclusion, democracy, and/or reconciliation on campus or within their community.

Alexandra Mercier received the Dean's Medal from the Wilson School of Design. She graduated from the Fashion Marketing Diploma program with a record of outstanding academic achievement and meaningful community engagement.

This is Wilson: Fashion student’s capstone project awarded for sustainable design.

Naiomi Chin received the TÉLIO Impact Award for her capstone project, Citizen Collective — a durable, modular and versatile wardrobe for fashion-forward corporate professionals.

“Receiving this award feels full circle. I originally went into fashion school because I was passionate about sustainability and solving problems,” she says. “I feel like this project was not only an opportunity for me to highlight those hard skills, but also the values that made me want to go into fashion school in the first place.”

This is Wilson: KPU Wilson School of Design Ranks Top 3 in Canada Thanks to Graphic Design Student Work

The KPU Wilson School of Design ranked 3rd in Canada according to the 2026 list of Top 10 Design Schools released by The Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD), Canada’s largest professional association for graphic designers.

The ranking was determined by the work of Graphic Design for Marketing students who participated in the 2025 RGD Student Awards, the nation’s largest professional design competition.

Wilson School of Design had 2 Winners and 11 Honourable Mentions from 10 students who submitted 33 entries.

This is Wilson: Design Students Win at 2026 Student Pitch Competition

Two Wilson School of Design students took the top spots at KPU's Student Pitch Competition this year. Sophie Becker earned first place with an innovative design for female-focused cycling apparel, with Sarah Collister coming in second for her modular formalwear collection.

Organized by the Melville School of Business, the competition gives KPU students an opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of industry and alumni judges with significant prizes for the winners.

This is Wilson: Michael Pope Honoured with Distinguished Teaching Award

Over the past two decades, Michael has cultivated a supportive, engaging and hands-on learning environment and has fostered curiosity, creativity and personal growth among his students.

KPU’s Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes remarkable teaching as demonstrated by activities such as the development of new courses and curricula, contributions to the scholarship of teaching, development of effective teaching methods, enrichment of the learning environment at KPU and contributions that improve the teaching of colleagues.

This is Wilson: The Heights of Fashion with Alumna Natasha Campbell

Featured in Issue 9 of the KPU Alumni Association magazine, Natasha Campbell reflects on her journey since studying in KPU’s Fashion Marketing program.

Today, Campbell serves as Program Chair of the Foundations in Design program at the Wilson School of Design and is also a faculty member in the School of Business, helping the next generation of creative students find their own paths in the industry.

This is Wilson: Reinventing Swimwear with Alumna Shannon Savage
