Why Students Go Quiet as They Get Older
Ever notice your child can do homework and read just fine…
…but when it comes to speaking in class, presenting, or group work, they freeze? 😶

This is super common in Vancouver schools.
It’s not about ability. Most students:
• know the answer but don’t know how to explain it clearly
• worry they’ll sound “wrong” or awkward
• freeze when the discussion moves fast
When students stay silent, they can miss out on grades, opportunities, and even their own voice.

🌱 Forbest | English Presentation & Speaking Course
This course is for Vancouver students who:
understand English but struggle to express their ideaswant to speak clearly and confidently in classneed help organizing thoughts for presentations and discussions👨‍🏫

Instructor: Alan Beesley
B.A., University of British ColumbiaJuris Doctor (Law)Debate coach & experienced student mentorAlan helps students turn:
“I know the answer” → “I can explain it clearly and confidently.”

What Students Will Gain 💡
✅ Confidence to speak up in class
✅ Clear, organized ways to share ideas
✅ Skills for presentations, group work, and discussions
✅ Stronger academic communication skills

📌 Speaking is a skill, not a personality trait.
With the right guidance, students can go from sitting quietly to participating actively and confidently.

From ELL to Cornell｜An Ivy League Journey 🇺🇸

Many Vancouver parents ask us:
👉 If a child arrives in Canada in Grade 9, with weak English or still in ELL, is the road to Top 30 U.S. universities already limited?

The answer is NO.

Join an Ivy League mom who has truly lived this journey.
Her daughter arrived in Vancouver in G9, ELL Level 2, struggling to adapt—
and years later received an offer from Cornell University.

No fairy tales.
No “gifted child” myth.
Just real choices, smart planning, and persistence—and how parents can make the right decisions at critical moments.
