IMAGO DEI Child Care Centre A Christian Licensed Early Childhood Education and Care Centre, Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum combined with the Bible

IMAGO DEI Chid Care is a licensed Christian early childhood education centre operating year-round for children ranging from 30 months to 5 years old. We use an emergent curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach combined with the Bible to teach, to care, and to guide. This approach is rooted in each child’s learning and interests. Teachers are encouraged to collaborate with children by asking questions to better understand their interests and by intentionally engaging in the activities alongside the children. Our program is aligned with the BC Early Learning Framework and the BC Ministry of Education curriculum to prepare children for successful advancement into kindergarten. We provide preschoolers:
- A stimulating learning place to explore, imagine, manipulate, and create/recreate a variety of rich materials
- A safe and supportive space to collaborate with their peers in contexts of both large and small groups
- A loving and enriching environment to discover their individual uniqueness and develop a personal relationship with God

Eventually, the Batman was up this afternoon... All the hard work seemed to be not in vain.

The children who have been acting out as if they were superheroes seemed excitedly to start singing the Batman song, "...Batman....Batman..." The teachers were thrilled as well to make more provocations as the children were talking and playing superheroes.

We are honoured to have had the opportunity to host a number of students from CDI College along with their instructor, Paula Milbradt. They were studying the Reggio Emilia approach and wanted to see how it could be implemented in an actual child care centre. Since IMAGO DEI Child Care uses this approach, we were very happy to give them a tour… It was good to hear that the ECE students were able to understand more and be inspired to develop their own ideas about this philosophy.
