There’s something so satisfying about watching children get completely absorbed in what they’re doing, and seeing how much joy can come from figuring something out!

That proud smile at the end, brought this Montessori quote to mind:

“The first essential for the child’s development is concentration. The child who concentrates is immensely happy.”

As part of our Summer Program’s Bugs & Insects exploration, our Primary children have been taking a closer look at the tiny creatures around them! 🪲

Rather than jumping in with answers, we use questions to get the thinking going. Children start noticing more, sharing what they already know, making connections, and wondering what else there is to find out.

That’s the part we love most about inquiry-based learning: Giving curiosity room to unfold✨

Gathering is one of those simple parts of the day that holds more than you might notice at first!

It’s a chance to share ideas, listen to each other, and learn from one another, but also to connect, feel included, and simply be part of the group.
And that’s what makes this little part of the day so special🌟

Story time doesn’t always have to be on the schedule!

Sometimes it’s simply about making books available, being present when the interest is there, and seeing where the story takes them! 📖✨

When they choose what catches their interest, a book can become the starting point for conversations, questions, and ideas that continue well beyond the story…

There’s something really special about watching a child care for something living.

They’re learning to take responsibility, make decisions, and trust themselves.
These little moments are where independence begins!✨

If you’d like to learn how to encourage more of them at home, we’d love to have you at our upcoming Nido Family Workshop.

The journey from “Help me!” to “I did it!” doesn’t happen overnight. It grows through meaningful opportunities and an environment that encourages children to participate.

Join us for an evening of practical ideas, real-life examples, and meaningful conversations about supporting independence in the early years.

When do you think independence really begins?

We often picture it starting around age two or three. But the foundations can begin much earlier, in the way a baby reaches, communicates, observes, and attempts to take part in everyday life.

What if supporting that independence had less to do with asking young children to do more, and more to do with how we prepare the environment around them?

Want to learn how to support these early foundations of independence?
Join us for our upcoming Nido Family Workshop, Helping Your Child Do It Themselves.

Okay, today was officially TOO hot… so obviously, we had a Water Day! 💦☀️

There was running, splashing, water-table exploring, teacher-chasing, and a whole lot of happy chaos!

Everyone had their own idea of how to stay cool, and honestly… we think they nailed it! 😎

What did you do to beat the heat today?
