IITTI World Civility Index, an NGO in Canada, recently set up a second 'Humanity Hub' (this time back in Canada, in Richmond). One focus is to build an "integrity layer" for the carbon credit market.
This is to train young people to have meaningful careers in the climate/environmental industry.
We are changing this group name from "Future of Work Global" to "Soma Africa Future of Work" to reflect a specific focus on Africa.

In line with what Future of Work Global Consortium has been doing, the key is about raising the quality of young people, giving them a view of their future that is full of opportunities, things to do, people to see, places to go.
And not just about making babies to fill the future labour markets!
It is quality over quantity.
Prof. Nicolas Eberstadt, Stanford University and Henry Wendt Chair in Political Economy at the American Enterprise Institute, talks about the feasibility of a shrinking, aging population that could thrive given the right actions.

On June 21, 2023, co-founder Patrick Chun, also co-founder of IITTI World Civility Index, joined a webinar hosted by Partnership on AI, a non-profit community of academic, civil society, industry (Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, IBM, etc.), and media organizations (BBC, etc.) addressing the most important and difficult questions concerning the future of AI.
The theme centers around: What incentives are there for companies to compensate society when they start using AI? And what gaps are there?
Patrick Chun suggested two points:
"I wonder if unskilled vs. skilled may be not as important in the future, as AI is taking away jobs from white-collar, highly skilled professionals, but whether a person has something to do, such as have passionate hobbies. We just need a different kind of currency in measuring productivity."
"On top of 'carbon offset', perhaps something like a 'humanity offset' where companies need to fund training of citizens to develop other skills (or hobbies). The incentive is that companies who do this get 'points' on their ESG rating!"
This is where the 'World Civility Index' can be useful. It can be thought of as the alternative currency for the 21st century. For example, it can be used by employers for hiring purposes, schools for admission, restaurants for giving the best seats, landlords for giving preferential rental priorities, dating websites for recommended matching partners.
A currency based on virtue.
At the same time, it can be used as the measurement for incentive for a company to "do good", where employees' accumulated World Civility Index points are aggregated into a "company average" and shown in the company's ESG report for investors and customers.
Thank you Patrick for the insight!
Today's decisions around AI will shape tomorrow's workplace.

British Telecom (BT) is but one example of the future of work! It is coming faster than many experts predicted.
At Future of Work Global, we have been advocating for a way of life where people have hobbies, people are good at talking to others of different age range, and people are mature enough to deal with unpleasant feelings such as boredom.
BT will shed as many as 55,000 workers by 2030 | CNN Business
BT Group is planning to slash up to 55,000 jobs in the next five to seven years as it makes greater use of technology, including artificial intelligence, to cut costs and simplify its business.

Thank you Universidad de La Rioja, Logroño, Spain, for publishing an IITTI academic paper on "How World Civility Index Helps Young People with Personal Image via a Diverse Focus to Prepare for their Future of Work".
In this, it mentioned three (3) essences to future-proof against the question:
What are young people going to do in the future
when there is no work?!
Our strategic partner and endorser, IITTI World Civility Index published a "Youth Standard" in Jan 2022 which suggested:
1.) Cultivate hobbies
2.) Learn how to talk to old people
3.) Learn how to deal with boredom

Future of Work Global co-founder Dr. Brian Reuben (in blue jacket), hosting Nigeria Leadership Agenda Summit and discussing urgent world topics that relate to the welfare of Nigeria.
The Future of Work Global is a consortium of government bodies, NGOs, companies and investors looking at the long-term in how to cultivate the next generation of youths that can increase GDP by 100%, 200%.
The measurement is based on the IITTI World Civility Index soft skills standard. With measurements come management. The "root cause" of many problems in the world is really an education issue in disguise. By solving the very basic, such as social etiquette, empathy, and intercultural awareness, it avoids the many bigger issues downstream such as discrimination, disrespect, hate.
It is only when citizens feel safe and respected can they have the mental space to start thinking about the "big issues" such as climate change.
Thank you Dr. Reuben for your leadership!
