Many say they offer “OG.”

But there’s a difference between saying it and actually being the original.

We opened on this day in 2004 and since then, Reach has been the leader in Structured Literacy intervention in Canada.

We’re not new to this.
We're literally the OGs of OG.

Some children finish Kindergarten, Grade 1, or Grade 2 still feeling unsure about reading or writing.

As a parent, you might notice:
• Trouble with sounds or letters
• Slow reading or guessing at words
• Avoiding writing
• Frustration when spelling doesn’t make sense

These early gaps are common, and the good news is they respond very well to the right kind of intervention.

Introducing our new Early Literacy Summer Program.

A 2 week small-group intensive designed to strengthen the core skills behind reading and writing.

📅 August 17th to 28th
⏰ 9:00 - 11:30 AM, Mon to Fri
👧 For students finishing K to grade 2

Intentionally short, focused snd supportive.

Spaces are highly limited to ensure we can target specific intervention and change the trajectory these primary students are facing so that they have a better opportunity to experience success with reading and writing.

Report cards have recently come home...

For some families, they bring relief. For others, they bring intense worry.

“Why is reading still so hard for my child?”
“Why does writing take so much effort?”
“What should we do next?”

If you’re feeling that moment as a parent, you’re not alone. The right intervention can change the trajectory for a child who is struggling with literacy.

For almost a quarter century, Reach has been teaching kids to read, write, and thrive.

We’ve grown because of the success our students achieve and the trust families place in our work.

• Structured, evidence-based literacy instruction
• Specialists trained in Orton-Gillingham
• Individualized intervention that targets the root of the struggle

We are the experts.
We are the originals in OG intervention.

When reading and writing feel hard, the right support can make all the difference.

Today we wear pink.

Students with learning differences are too often misunderstood... and too often bullied.

At Reach, families know they’re working with experts in Structured Literacy.

✅️ Every lesson is intentionally designed for the individual learner.
✅️ Our practitioners are extensively trained and mentored.
✅️ Progress is monitored and support is layered.

❎️ Parents shouldn’t have to verify credentials.
❎️ They shouldn’t have to chase reports.
❎️ They shouldn’t have to wonder if intervention is working.

At Reach, that level of professionalism is the standard.

Not all intervention is equal.

Following a program isn’t the same as designing a lesson around the learner.

At Reach, our trained practitioners build every lesson intentionally around the needs of each child.

That’s the difference.
That’s why kids thrive here.

We are proud that our founder, Corey Zylstra, M.Ed., was an honoured member of the Dyslexia Definition Advisory Group for IDA. The International Dyslexia Association has now adopted the new definition of dyslexia. The revised definition stemmed from efforts to embrace and reflect on the latest research and lived experiences of those with dyslexia. Reading at Home: Supporting Your Child’s Literacy Journey
We know that there is an expectation to read with our kids at home, but many families aren't sure as to what to do when our child is struggling to sound out words, remember words from one page to the next, or is reluctant to read at all. Join us at Reach Edmonton for our parent session helping families understand reading fluency development. We will share practical strategies so you can identify what they should be reading versus what you should be reading to them and other strategies for supporting your struggling reader at home.

We welcome Corey Zylstra, M.Ed, international expert on Orton-Gillingham and structured literacy intervention and founder of Reach Learning Centres. Join us to learn, grow, share your experiences, and have your questions answered.
