⚽️ Do you play soccer? Who do you think will win the next FIFA World Cup?

You probably wonβ€˜t guess our students’ answers! 🀭

With Vancouver buzzing with FIFA excitement, our young speakers explored the world of soccer in this weekβ€˜s Creative Young Public Speaking class! πŸŒŽπŸ†

Students learned about FIFA, famous soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, and the hard work professional athletes put into their training. Then came the fun challenge: If animals played soccer, who would win the FIFA World Cup? 🐻🐴🦁

Using their imagination and critical thinking, students shared their ideas and explained their reasoning in complete English sentences:

πŸ—£οΈ ”A bear would win the FIFA World Cup because it is strong.β€œ
πŸ—£οΈ ”A horse would win because it kicks hard.β€œ

From building vocabulary and sentence structure to developing confidence in public speaking, our young learners practiced expressing their ideas clearly and creatively in English. 🎀✨

Watch their presentations and see what surprising champions they picked! βš½οΈπŸ†

One thing many parents ask us about is what children eat during Summer Camp 🍱😊

Alongside classes and activities, we also place a big focus on balanced nutrition. Our lunches are usually prepared with a combination of β€œprotein + vegetables + staple + juice” to help children stay energized and healthy throughout the day πŸ’›

Some examples include:
🍝 Spaghetti with tomato meat sauce
πŸ› Beef & vegetable rice
πŸ₯— Teriyaki chicken salad rice
πŸ₯ͺ Turkey & vegetable sandwiches

Menus change daily and are served with juice and snacks 😊

We also provide two nutritious snack times each day, usually including cheese, crackers, and fresh fruit 🍎 Especially after outdoor playtime, the kids are always excited for snack breaks πŸ˜‚β˜€οΈ

The process of elimination and critical thinking 🌊🦈

From a list of 9 dangerous ocean creatures, students cross-reference:
β€’ Likelihood of attack
β€’ Chances of the attack being fatal
β€’ The element of surprise
Before researching, students write their own hypothesis first:
β€œI think the world’s most dangerous ocean creature is a Stonefish, because it has the element of surprise, highly fatal poison, and might attack you.”

Through inquiry, debate, and evidence-based reasoning, students learn that strong opinions begin with strong thinking. πŸ”

The Skill of Persuasion ✨️

Miss Kelli and her student are playing an improv game called "Sell Me This.” As part of their persuasive speech unit, students are learning how language can positively or negatively influence others through the use of powerful buzzwords and strategic wording.

Today’s challenge involved selecting a random item and trying to sell it in just 4️⃣0️⃣ seconds, using engaging, persuasive language. This activity helps students build confidence, think quickly under pressure, expand vocabulary, and understand how tone and word choice can shape opinions.

A fun and energetic lesson focused on creativity, communication, and the art of persuasion. 🧠

What was the wolf thinking? 🐺

Our young writers explored *Little Red Riding Hood* through the wolf’s perspective πŸ‘

Focusing on his thoughts, feelings, and secret plans as the story unfolds. This creative writing prompt challenged students to think deeper about character motivation, emotions, and how perspective shapes a story.

A 1-hour literacy class with two 5-year-old learners ✨

This lesson was carefully segmented into focused mini-blocks to match young attention spans while building multiple early reading and speaking skills.

Today we worked on:
πŸ”Ή Digraphs – recognizing and using **th** and **ch**
πŸ”Ή Hearing the difference between the two **th** sounds (soft/breezy + voiced/buzzy)
πŸ”Ή Reading simple sentences with confidence
πŸ”Ή Creating and extending full sentences with more detail
πŸ”Ή Building focus, turn-taking, and classroom confidence

At this age, strong literacy growth happens when learning is active, structured, and playful. Short targeted sections help children stay engaged while making meaningful progress. ⭐️
