We have received many enquiries from Burnaby parents asking whether Ladder Tree would offer Chinese programs within the Burnaby School District.
We are now very pleased to officially announce:
🎉 During the 2026–2027 school year, we will be launching Cantonese Chinese Foundation Programs at two Burnaby schools.

🌱【一堂看似簡單的中文課，背後其實是老師團隊很多小時的心血】
🎯很多時候，家長和孩子在課堂上看到的，是一個有趣的遊戲、一張工作紙、一個手作活動，或者一本配合主題的學習小冊子🎀
🥇但其實，在每一堂課正式開始之前，我們的老師團隊都會花很多時間，一起討論、構思、修改和重新設計🥇

🌈圖中所看到的，不只是課堂活動的成果，還包括老師們在設計課程時的手稿、草稿和初稿🗃️每一個活動、每一張學習紙、每一個教學小細節，都是經過團隊反覆討論、多次溝通及仔細調整後，才慢慢形成的🌈

我們會一起思考：
✨ 這個主題應該怎樣引起孩子的學習興趣？
✨ 怎樣把生字、詞語、句式和遊戲自然地結合？

🌱 【Behind Every Simple-Looking Chinese Lesson Are Many Hours of Careful Planning】
🎯What parents and children see in the classroom may be a fun game, a worksheet, a hands-on craft activity, or a small learning booklet designed around a particular theme.🎀

🥇However, before each lesson begins, our teaching team spends many hours discussing ideas, planning activities, making revisions, and refining every detail.🥇

🌈The materials shown in the photos are not only the finished classroom activities. They also include our teachers’ handwritten ideas, rough sketches, drafts, and early lesson plans.🗃️

🌈Every activity, worksheet, and small teaching detail is gradually developed through repeated team discussions, careful communication, and thoughtful adjustments.
Together, we consider questions such as:

✨ How can we make this topic interesting and engaging for children?

Learning Chinese does not have to be just sitting down and copying words.
At Ladder Tree, we hope children will enjoy Chinese, feel confident speaking it, and naturally use it in daily life.
✨ Our Richmond classroom now has new class times available, and we welcome beginners ages 4–11 to join us!
In our class, students are not simply “taking a Chinese lesson.” They are gently introduced to the world of Cantonese through a variety of fun and meaningful activities, such as:
📚 Reading picture books
🎵 Singing Chinese songs
🎭 Role-playing
✂️ Hands-on crafts
🛍️ Real-life conversations and “Chinese mini market” interactive games
Students learn vocabulary, sentence patterns, and expression while playing and interacting.
With our small-group teaching approach, our teachers are able to adjust lessons based on each student’s learning progress, strengths, and areas that need extra support. This helps make learning more focused, meaningful, and effective.

🍀如果有一天，我們不再和小朋友說中文🍀
——一位香港移民媽媽的心底話💌
五年前，我們一家四口從香港移居加拿大。
那一年，女兒十一歲，兒子五歲。
我仍然清楚記得第一次踏進加拿大校園的情景。女兒背着書包，站在操場邊，小聲對我說：「媽媽，這裏沒有人說廣東話。」
那一刻，我的心情其實很複雜。
我知道，這片土地會帶給他們更寬廣的世界；
但我也同時很清楚——如果我們不夠堅持，中文，會慢慢離開他們的生活🌷🍀

🌈語言，從來不只是一種溝通工具。
它其實是一條連結——📨
💌連結父母與孩子，
💌連結過去與未來
💌連結一個人「知道自己從哪裏來」。

⏰我從事中文教育工作超過二十年。
在香港，我教學生如何寫字、如何閱讀；
來到加拿大之後，我對「語言」有了更深一層的體會——
🍄語言，其實是一種身份的延續。
🌈語言裏面，承載着情緒、記憶、價值觀，
也承載着一個文化如何理解世界的方式🌈
如果有一天，小朋友只能用英文對你說：「I’m sad。」
你會明白他的意思，
但你未必能完全感受到他的情緒重量🏵️
因為「我很難過」、「我好唔開心」這些說話，本身就帶著溫度與層次💝💖

🤱語言，有時候本身就是一種陪伴👫
很多人以為，在 Richmond 這樣華人眾多的地方，中文自然會留下來。但我每天在中文教室看到的，卻是另一個現實。
不少小朋友：
💥家裏是華人，朋友是華人，
但他們用英文玩、用英文笑、用英文吵架。
慢慢地，中文變成了一種「只在上課時才使用的語言」。
而當一個語言，不再用來表達感受、分享生活、描述自己，
它就會慢慢失去位置💥

🌸很多小朋友最後只剩下——「聽得懂，但說不出口」。
這是語言環境自然發生的結果，
正因如此，家庭，才顯得格外重要。

🪾如果我們放棄中文，我們的下一代真正失去的是什麼？
他們失去的，從來不只是一種語言。
他們可能會：
聽不懂公公婆婆，爺爺嫲嫲講的故事❤️‍🩹
不明白為什麼父母一談起香港，眼神會不一樣，
也無法理解某些笑話，為什麼用英文怎麼都說不出那個味道。

🌼有一天，當他們想更深入了解自己的根，
卻發現——
原來已經沒有一種語言，可以自然地帶他們回去。
語言一旦斷了，要再接回來，其實很不容易。
我選擇堅持和自己的小朋友說中文，
是因為我不希望有一天，
他們望著我，露出一種「我聽不懂你世界」的眼神🥹
🍄我希望他們可以用中文和我吵架、
🍄用中文向我道歉、
🍄用中文說出自己的感受。
這些，從來不是課本可以直接教會的，
而是靠生活裏，一天一天使用、一天一天累積。

🎗️我經常對家長說：
學中文，並不是為小朋友增加一個負擔，
🚪而是為他們打開一扇門🚪
一個懂中文的小朋友，將來多的不只是語言能力，
而是多一個世界，多一份選擇🎁🎁
⛱️他可以與長輩更親近，
⛱️可以自己閱讀中文書、聽懂故事，
⛱️也可以在成長的某一天，更深入地理解自己的文化背景。
🌈你今天為他保留中文，
不是為了現在，
而是為了讓他將來，有選擇要不要用這種語言的權利🌈

💞中文不需要完美，只需要存在。
不需要做到一百分💯
🪙只要它仍然在家庭裏出現，就已經很珍貴🪙

未必每天都有時間讀書、寫字，
但一句中文對話、
一個中文故事、
一段中文音樂，
都是小朋友與語言之間的重要連結。

🍒語言不是靠一次努力完成的，
而是靠長時間的「沒有放棄」💪

🏆作為老師，我見過很多美好的結果。
不少學生一開始只聽、不敢說；
後來慢慢開始用中文表達自己🏆

💞那一刻，我感受到——
家長的堅持，已經悄悄變成了小朋友的力量💞

💐中文，是一份可以陪伴小朋友一輩子的禮物。
玩具會舊，課程會完，
但語言，會一直跟著他。
即使有一段時間用得少了，
只要根還在，
它總有一天會回來。
