ATTENTION ARBORISTS:
So0o...I have ramped up my training for this year's Tour des Trees ( #24), and I am hereby sending out a challenge to all Arborists!
I can say there's not one arborist out there who hasn't benefited from TREE Research on some level! Or, at the very least, perhaps "a best practice" unveiled by funded tree research. Heck, we'd still be painting tree wounds with tar and using manila ropes if it weren't for research. I remember those NASTY "paint-pots" days when I first started in the biz. Let's keep arboriculture moving forward.
Tour des Trees is a rolling research portal. It's the world's largest fundraiser for Tree Research, Education and Scholarships, and it's one heck of a creative way to raise awareness about our urban trees. The good, bad and the ugly.
So0o0o, arborists.... can you give a little bit to keep our industry progressive and relevant? How about 10% of your next job? OK OK 5 %??? Loose change?? Sofa coins???
As an Arborist, I look at funding tree research as a form of job insurance. It's a way to stay on top of the multitude of challenges that affect our day-to-day careers working with the trees that help everyone. A modest donation is a small price for the returns that we have all reaped over the years.
All registered 2026 TdT rider-arborists are exempt. Props to my 2026 Arbor supporters @ Central Tree Service (Toronto), Green Canopy Tree Service (Brampton), Green Leadership Professionals (Toronto), and Urban Forest Associates (Toronto). Y'all Rock!
Any level of support is appreciated and come ride the Carolinas with me.

Hey Gang, even though Tour des Trees is still a couple of months away, it's time to switch gears and speak for the trees. Ahemmmm ....
"Tour des Trees is an epically creative way to raise funds for us urban trees. That funding supports research, educational initiatives, and scholarships for the people who aim to elevate tree care standards.
What do you get? Well, you all get healthier trees in our community via progressive research into the areas that ail us, your hard-working urban trees. New state-of-the-art best practices are unveiled, studied and vetted, and the thresholds of professional tree care evolve. Heck, without tree research we'd still be painting tar on tree cuts and wounds!!!
Please donate and help ensure a healthy urban forest, which ensures a healthier lifestyle for everyone. In 2026, us trees just aren't a nicety; we're a necessity."
This will be tour # 24 for me (since 2003). How many more do I have left in me?? NOT MANY!
All donations are tax-deductible:
In Canada: https://www.canadahelps.org/me/2DERzkH
In the USA: http://tree.convio.net/goto/warrenhoselton
To all who have donated: THANK YOU!
Any size of donation helps. It takes many leaves to create a canopy!
Thanks,
Warren

Travelling through Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and then Japan. I am seriously thinking of doing a fave tree in the world book. Which would include tree(s) that you’ve actually touched. I am blessed to have touched some amazing trees in Australia, Iceland, Spain, California and now here in Asia. Can you post some pics of the trees you’ve touch (and obviously they have touched you).
Here’s my Asia candidates, so far:
