RHMS Grade 4 students are trading the classroom for the pool as they dive into their swimming lessons. Through fun and engaging activities, students are developing swimming techniques and essential safety skills. The students are building confidence as they become more comfortable in the pool and learn to navigate the water with greater independence.

It’s an exciting way to make memories, stay active, challenge themselves and make a splash while learning.

RHMS Grade 7 students are having fun with Problem of the Week, taking on challenging and entertaining math problems designed to engage them in becoming confident and skillful problem solvers.

Each week, students explore a new problem that encourages them to think critically, apply their mathematical knowledge and look at problems from different perspectives. Through discussion and creative strategies, students are developing their ability to make connections and persevere when faced with challenging mathematical problems. It allows them to see beyond simply finding an answer all while having fun with math!

RHMS Montessori students are learning that being a part of a classroom community means taking responsibility for their environment and showing consideration for others. Through everyday routines, students are developing important classroom rules and etiquette such as tucking in their chairs, tidying up their workspaces and returning materials to their proper places.

Students are also learning the importance of lending a helping hand. These simple acts of responsibility and kindness encourage independence, respect and cooperation while helping create a welcoming and organized classroom.

RHMS Elementary students had a wonderful time participating in Outdoor Day! The day provided students with an opportunity to connect with their classmates, enjoy time outdoors and learn more about safe and responsible play during recess.

The students explored the different activities available within their designated recess areas and learned about the importance of following recess safety guidelines, being aware of their surroundings, and making positive choices while playing with others. Through a variety of engaging activities, the students were able to discover new ways to stay active, have fun and make the most of their time outdoors.

This is a kind reminder, on Monday, September 21, 2026, students will enjoy a day filled with opportunities to connect with their classmates and learn about recess safety, while exploring a variety of activities they can enjoy based on their designated recess area. We kindly ask that students wear their gym clothes and appropriate athletic footwear to school so they may comfortably participate throughout the day. Let’s get moving, have fun, and make the most of a fantastic day outdoors.

RHMS grade 7 & 8 classes enjoyed a workshop run by PhD students from York University. Our presenters taught our students about the real world research they are currently involved in at York's School of Kinesiology and Health Science. They then led our students through the steps of the scientific method as they had the opportunity to design and carry out an experiment on the topic of muscle strength and fatigue. Students enjoyed the opportunity to work with dynamometers, a tool which measures hand-grip strength.

This workshop reinforced all of the key concepts which students need to understand in order to design and carry out their own individual Science Expo projects which they are currently working on.

RHMS Grade 7 students kicked off the first week of school by pushing through numbers and working together during an engaging 100 Numbers team challenge to get students talking.
Working in small groups, the teams were tasked to find and circle numbers 1 through 100 in consecutive order. While the task appeared simple at first, students quickly discovered that success required more than just speed, it called for effective communication, collaboration, focus and strategic thinking.

This activity provided a fun and meaningful opportunity for students to build connections with their classmates while developing essential skills that will support them throughout the school year.

RHMS Montessori Students got straight to work on their very first day of school, filling the classroom with creativity, colour and plenty of smiles. With no first-day jitters in sight, the students created artwork and colourful designs to help brighten up their new learning environment.

Throughout the day, the children became familiar with their teachers, explored their classroom surroundings and began building new friendships. What a wonderful way to start the school year!
