Some kids sing everywhere — in the car, around the house, while doing homework… 🎶

What if that natural love of singing could become something more?

The new Youth Choir Program at 88 Keys in Richmond Hill gives young singers ages 6+ a place to find their voice, experience the excitement of singing with others, and discover what it feels like to be part of something bigger than themselves.

It’s about confidence. Connection. Listening to one another. Making music together. And turning “I love to sing” into a skill they can continue developing.

What makes ages 4–5 such a special time to begin learning music - and why has Yamaha built an entire course around this stage of development? 🎹✨

The Junior Music Course (JMC) is much more than an introduction to the keyboard. Its approach is based on how young children naturally learn, respond to sound, interact with others, and build confidence through experience.

If you’re wondering whether group music lessons are the right first step for your child, swipe through the carousel to discover:

→ what JMC is
→ why Yamaha focuses specifically on ages 4-5
→ what children can gain from the program
→ and why learning music together can be so valuable at this age

Sometimes choosing a first music program isn’t about asking, “How quickly will my child learn to play?” - but rather, “What kind of musical foundation are we building?”

👉 Swipe through to learn why JMC could be a meaningful beginning to your child’s musical journey.

🎶 What does a Yamaha music class look like? Sometimes, it starts with a gorilla! 🦍

At Yamaha, young children don’t just sit at the keyboard and follow instructions. They listen, move, sing, imitate, play and respond to music — building important musical skills in a way that feels natural and fun.

In this Yamaha Young Musicians Course (YMC) trial lesson, students follow their teacher’s movements along with the music, strengthening their:

🎵 sense of rhythm and beat
👂 listening and musical awareness
🧠 memory and concentration
🤝 ability to follow and respond as part of a group
🎹 foundation for future keyboard and musical development

Activities like this may look like play, but they are an important part of developing a child’s musical ear, coordination and confidence.

Want to see how your child responds to the Yamaha method?

✨ Join us for a YMC Trial Class this Saturday, August 22 at 12:15 PM at 88 Keys Music School in Richmond Hill.

Come experience the program, meet the teacher and discover whether Yamaha YMC is the right next step in your child’s musical journey.

🎶 3 years old is not too early to start music. In fact, it can be one of the most beautiful times to begin.

At this age, children learn through listening, imitation, movement, repetition and connection - exactly what you can see happening in this Music Wonderland class.

💫 They watch their teacher closely.
💫 They listen for their turn.
💫 They sing together.
💫 They respond to gestures and musical cues.
💫 And most importantly — they are fully engaged. 💛

Yamaha Music Wonderland is designed to introduce young children to music in a way that feels natural and joyful for their age. Through singing, rhythm, movement, listening and keyboard activities, children begin developing their musical ear, sense of rhythm, coordination, concentration and confidence.

These early experiences create a strong foundation for future music learning — while helping children simply fall in love with music first. 🎹✨

At 88 Keys, music often becomes a family journey. 🎶

When children begin their musical path, parents are right there with them — attending classes, supporting practice, learning the method, and helping their children grow with confidence.

And sometimes, while helping their child thrive, parents begin reconnecting with music too.

During our in-class concerts, we encourage family members to perform in front of their child’s class, because music is taught through participation, encouragement, and shared experience.

The parent featured in this reel performed his own original composition, and while this performance comes from previous musical experience, it reminds us of something very important:

If you have ever thought, “One day I would love to learn music,” starting alongside your child may be the best beginning.

At 88 Keys, our learning methods are for all ages — and we are here to help every student thrive. 💛🎶

We are concluding this year’s journey with our Annual Recital.

Thank you to all parents, teachers, and students who joined us.

Throughout the year, students achieved remarkable success, mastering new skills and culminating in top-tier performances. Our teachers continually challenge students, leading to the original compositions we heard.

This recital was particularly emotional as it marks Miss Yana’s final one with us, making the closing moments especially touching.

As the final notes echoed, we all felt the deep connection we share through music. Here’s to the next chapter and all the melodies yet to come!
