Happy Book Launch Day! 📚✨

Today is the day! Sometimes I wonder why I keep putting myself in situations that feel so vulnerable.

And then I remember: growth doesn’t happen inside our comfort zone. And neither does impact. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve always believed that my business should be a force for good. That the work we do should leave people, workplaces, and communities a little better than we found them. 😊

Launching a book carries more emotional weight than I expected. You put your ideas, experiences, failures, lessons, and beliefs out into the world and hope they make a difference.

Tonight, I’m excited. I’m nervous. And I’m incredibly grateful. 💛

My focus is simple: What value can I bring to the people in the room? What conversation can I start? What possibility can I help someone see?

Because ultimately, Making Manufacturing Sexy isn’t just about selling books. It’s about challenging how we think about leadership, people, and manufacturing—and hopefully inspiring others to create positive change.

Every business has the opportunity to make the world we live in a little better.

This book is my contribution. 📚💛

Now… it’s time to trust the process. 😉💪

Happy Monday! 💪📚

Yes, this is really me at the gym this morning… I just used AI to put some ridiculously oversized books on the crawler! 😂

3 more days until my book launch! 🎉

Yesterday, someone reminded me that this is so much more than just a book. It’s a story of resilience.

Next year, I will celebrate 20 years in business.
Manufacturing has always been close to my heart, but the journey hasn’t been easy.
Being underestimated because I’m a woman. Engineers questioning what they could possibly learn from someone who isn’t an engineer. Two recessions. Financial hardships. Tears. Self-doubt.

But here I am. Still standing. Still believing. Still showing up. ❤️

Writing a book is hard. Promoting it? That’s a whole different endurance event! 😂

I don’t know how many copies this book will sell, but I know WHY I wrote it.
Because I believe manufacturing deserves better. Our people deserve better. And leadership has the power to transform workplaces.

I didn’t come this far just to write a book. I came this far because I believe we can change the way we lead people in manufacturing.
And I’m not done yet! 💛

If you believe in this message, please help me spread it. Buy the book, share it, and leave an honest Amazon review. Every bit of support means the world to me. 🙏

Happy Thursday!

You cannot get positive results with a negative mind. 💪🧠

Practicing thoughts that serve you rather than hinder you takes… well, PRACTICE!

And I’ve had plenty of time to practice. 😂
Marathons, half marathons, 2 half Ironmans, 1 full Ironman, a 10 km swim, and a 50-mile ultramarathon have taught me a thing or two about mindset.

When your body gets tired, your mind gets LOUD.

That little voice starts whispering:
“You can’t do this.”
“Why are you doing this?”
“Just stop?” 😂

That’s when you have a choice. You can believe those thoughts, or you can consciously choose thoughts that help you keep moving forward.

The same is true in business and leadership.
When challenges arise, things go wrong, or people test your patience, your self-talk matters.

You cannot always control your circumstances, but you can learn to control how you respond to them.

Mental strength isn’t about pretending everything is wonderful. It’s about developing the ability to think constructively, especially when things get tough.

And that takes practice. Every. Single. Day.
📚 ONE MORE WEEK until my book launch on September 24! 🎉

Making Manufacturing Sexy: The Mindset Shift from Firefighting to Leading is about creating new possibilities by changing the way we think, lead, and work together.

I’d love to celebrate with you!

Happy Monday! 📚✨

This just got VERY real! 😍

87 pre-ordered signed copies of Making Manufacturing Sexy are getting ready to find their new homes — and the rest are waiting for the book launch next week!

Yes, the title says manufacturing, but I’m really in the people business. Because behind every machine, every process, every KPI and every production target are people.

That’s what this book is about: shifting from firefighting to leading and creating manufacturing workplaces where people feel valued, want to contribute, and can grow.

To everyone who has already ordered a copy: THANK YOU! 💛

Now I better start signing… 87 times. 😂✍️

Have you ordered your copy yet or do you want to come to the book launch? 😉

08/14/2026

I just ordered the Amazon proof of my new book: Making Manufacturing Sexy: The Mindset Shift from Firefighting to Leading.

If you’d asked me in January whether I wanted to write a new book, I would have said no.

Then in March, I felt a pull I couldn’t explain — like something bigger than me was nudging me to revisit the book I wrote 14 years ago. I thought I’d just update it. But rereading it, I realized something different: yes, a lot has changed in the industry since then. But I’ve also changed. I have more experience, more stories, more scars — and more proof of what actually works.

I’m anxious. I’m nervous. And I also know this is the message the industry needs right now.

If I had to sum up the book in two sentences: Technology has evolved. Leadership hasn’t.

My path in this industry hasn’t been easy. As a woman, I’ve lost business simply for being a woman. Unconscious bias is real — but I’ve never let myself become a victim of circumstance.

Early on, a General Manager told me he saw me as “the underdog.” At the time — a fairly new immigrant from Austria — I didn’t even know if he meant it as a compliment. But in January, it will be 20 years since I started my business. So if I was the underdog, I guess I’m still here — and long-distance triathlons, marathons, and open-water swims taught me exactly how to rewrite the story I tell myself about myself, one mile at a time.

Last week, a woman in the industry — trying to be helpful — warned me that my message might upset people in management, and that I’d lose business because of it.

Let me be clear: I’m not writing for them.

I’m writing for the leaders who want to build different cultures, challenge old mindsets, and become disruptors in a time of change — not followers still clinging to industrial-age management. Those old ways are, hopefully, on their way out.

You cannot solve the problems you created with the same mindset that created them.

My hope rests with the leaders willing to think differently — and brave enough to lead that way.

Happy Wednesday!

Most managers think they’re leading.

They’re not.

They’re managing problems.

Every day they jump from one issue to the next:
🔥 A quality problem
🔥 A customer complaint
🔥 A production delay
🔥 An employee conflict

By the end of the day, they’re exhausted.

And nothing has really changed.

Why?

Because solving problems is not the same as leading people.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve worked with leaders in manufacturing and technical environments. One pattern shows up over and over again:

The more problems managers solve for their team, the more dependent the team becomes on them.

The manager becomes the bottleneck.

The firefighter.

The person everyone runs to for answers.

Leadership begins when you stop asking:

“How do I solve this?”

and start asking:

“How do I help my people think through this themselves?”

The goal is not to build a team that needs you.

The goal is to build a team that grows because of you.

What problem are you still solving that someone on your team should be solving instead?

Happy Monday! ☀️

We have to stop teaching our children how to be successful without also teaching them what it means to be human.

Kindness. Respect. Gratitude. Empathy. These are not “soft skills.” They are leadership skills.

Over the years, I have met many managers who are highly educated and driven by money, yet have never learned how to truly lead people. A leader without people skills can do tremendous damage—to individuals, teams, and entire organizations. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Companies proudly display their values on the wall, but too often those values never walk down the hall.

Success is measured by more than profit. It’s measured by how we treat the person who cleans the office, the employee who struggles, the new hire with a great idea, and the colleague who simply wants to be seen and heard.

Let’s raise children—and develop leaders—who know that every person matters.

Because the best leaders don’t just build successful companies. They build better humans.

Question:
What value do you believe every child should learn before they enter the workforce?

06/04/2026

Happy Thursday!

Everything I know about the power of the mind, I learned through running.

From marathons to ultramarathons and Ironman competitions, I’ve discovered that the biggest challenge is rarely physical. It’s the story you tell yourself when things get hard.

“I can’t do this.”
“This is too much.”
“I’m not ready.”
“I am not good enough.”

Change the story, and you often change the outcome. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yesterday was Global Running Day, and it reminded me why I decided to write another book after 14 years.

Not because manufacturing needs more information.

Because it needs more transformation.

Most manufacturing books teach:
✔️ Lean
✔️ Systems
✔️ KPIs
✔️ Processes
✔️ Operational Excellence

Those things matter.

But after 20 years of working with manufacturing leaders, I’ve learned that the greatest opportunities for improvement rarely come from a process problem.

They come from a people problem. 😳

A supervisor who lacks confidence.

A leader who avoids difficult conversations.

A team that no longer feels heard.

An employee who has stopped caring because nobody is listening.

That’s why my upcoming book (coming out this fall), Making Manufacturing Sexy: The Mindset Shift from Firefighting to Leading, focuses on something many manufacturing books barely touch:

Mindset. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Because operational excellence is built on personal excellence.

And because people deserve to work in environments where they have a voice, feel heard, and know they matter.

The future of manufacturing won’t be defined by technology alone.

It will be defined by leaders who have the right mindset and know how to lead people.

What do you believe is the biggest mindset challenge facing leaders today?

Happy Friday!

14 years ago, I posted a question on LinkedIn:

How Can We Make Manufacturing Sexy?

Some rolled their eyes.
Some didn't know what to do with it.
Some said: that's not how we talk about manufacturing.

But within 2 weeks — 450 people responded.

That told me everything.

The question was hitting a nerve. People in manufacturing felt it too — the disconnect, the frustration, the sense that something needed to change.

So I wrote a book about it.

And then I spent the next 14 years living inside manufacturing organizations and technical environments — coaching leaders, watching teams struggle, seeing what breaks and what builds.

Now I have the answer.

It's not technology.
It's not process.
It's not a new system or a better strategy.

It's the mindset of the leader in the room.

"Making Manufacturing Sexy — The Mindset Shift" is coming this fall. If this resonates — share it. Someone in your network needs to read this.

From firefighting to leading.

Happy Wednesday!

“Karin, I think I’m failing in my new role.”
That’s what a manager told me last week - after being in the role for just over 6 months.

He’s not failing.
He’s doing exactly what got him promoted.
And that’s the problem.

Most people think a promotion is a reward.
It’s not. It’s a completely different job. 😵‍💫

📌 Same person.
📌 Same effort.
📌 Same work ethic.
📌 Wrong mindset.

You were promoted for what you did.
You’ll succeed for how you think.

And nobody teaches that part.
So people work harder…
get more involved…
try to prove themselves…
…and slowly become the bottleneck.

Not because they’re not capable.
But because they’re still thinking like a doer.

Promoted… now what?
We just released a new video on this topic, because this is where most leadership journeys either stall or take off.

I invite you to take a look.
