Revelstoke Alpine School

Dear Friends, over 2 years ago now Rachel had an accident while guiding and took a serious hit to the head suffering a concussion.

While Rachel has fought with all of her heart and soul to recover from this concussion and made incredible progress with her vision, balance and memory she is still fighting a tremendous battle to get her ability to regulate emotions back.

About 2 weeks ago Rachel’s symptoms flared up and her mental health deteriorated to a new low. This lead Rachel to fight thoughts of su***de that were almost unbearable. Rachel contagiously check herself into the ER in Revelstoke and got the help she needed. Rachel was then transferred to Psychiatric care in Vernon. The team of Doctors there recommended more acute treatment.

Rachel has been accepted into a 6 week Trauma Treatment Facility to receive the helps she needs. However this is a very expensive process that is not covered by insurance.

Please help Rachel get the help she needs. She has given her heart and soul to so many of us, now this is an opportunity to give a little bit back to her.

• Ski Mountaineering (this is an advanced course designed to focus on decision making in technical terrain)
• Crevasse Rescue (learn how to pull your friends out of a crevasse, it’s the first step in Glacier Travel)

Sooooooo... we went on an adventure!!!

This trip was built from a childhood dream from a man who was intrigued by a mountain that he could see from the beach of his family’s summer home on the northern tip of Savary Island.

This adventure turned into much more then climbing a mountain. It was an emotional journey through ancient forests reflecting on the status of ourselves and the world around us.
..
We were dropped off at the most northern point of Powell Lake, walked up the Daniels FSR for about 8 km then took a big left turn and headed towards Denman. We suspect we pioneered a new route up the South East face the summit. Then down the South Ridge (normal route) to Desolation Sound.

This was one of the most exciting adventures I have ever guided. Thanks Ian for have a dream and sharing it with us.

Many years ago I took a trip to Desolation Sound. This was my introduction to the granite peaks that surround the Toba Inlet. Since that trip they have offer me endless daydreams.

When I was introduced to Ian he immediately mentioned that one of his life goals is to climb Mount Denman, after a quick google search I realized that this was the name of one of those stunning peaks I have been dreaming about. Needless to say I was on-board to climb it immediate.

Ian has been spending time on Savary Island his entire life and dreaming about standing on this summit. Today we start the expedition to make these dreams come to fruition. Follow along to see how it goes.

New course coming up. This is a hybrid course by special request. It is a Course for those who have some mountain experience, but no rock climbing experience.
