🌲 Four and a half Years of Mountain Road Homestead Forest School ❤️
Mountain Road Homestead opened its doors in March 2022, but the story really started long before that.
I had a vision of creating a place where children could spend their days outside, getting muddy, exploring nature, using their imaginations, and learning through play. I didn’t have everything figured out—I just knew I wanted to create something special.
When I opened our doors, MRH was pretty simple. We had the mud kitchen Mr. Rob built, our children’s play structure, a huge outdoor tent, a few logs, and a very bare yard. But I was excited, nervous, and completely determined to make it work. 🌿
Over the past four years, I’ve learned, grown, changed, and built this little Forest School one piece at a time. We’ve added play structures, our gazebo, and our little Forest School cabin. I’ve continued my own education, expanded my knowledge of Forest School and outdoor learning, and learned so much from the children who come through our gates.
But the biggest part of my journey has been the relationships.
I’ve watched children grow from tiny explorers into confident little people. I’ve watched families return year after year. I’ve celebrated first drop-offs, new friendships, muddy adventures, big discoveries, and so many little moments that I’ll never forget. ❤️
MRH has grown, but so have I.
What started with a dream, a big outdoor tent, a few logs, and a whole lot of hope has become something I’m incredibly proud of.
And I’m still dreaming, still learning, and still building. 🌲
