Since its inception on October 5, 2022 and charitable registration on August 3, 2023, Southdove is proud to support youth and clergy empowerment and mentorship by facilitating heritage language and cultural summer camp and youth engagement festivals in Canadian cities of Calgary and Regina and construction of Bishop Nathaniel Garang Training Centre in Juba, South Sudan. We welcome the volunteers who want to be part of the growing movement of committed change makers in their local community and contribute to belonging.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP WITH SOUTHDOVE

(a) Building of your legacy by contributing to youth empowerment in your local community and engaging with other individuals with similar goals for change. The more, the merrier.

(b) Capacity building for the objectives and grants for the Southdove. When Southdove has sustainable capacity building to boost capital funding for administrative and operative costs, the charity passes the organizational capability assessment to manage the grants. Funding agencies are more comfortable to fund the charitable projects when the charities have sustainable funds to cater for the operations.

(c) You receive the tax receipts that, in turn, provide you with the financial reimbursement from the federal and provincial governments.

(d) Membership is the pathway to participate in the leadership and management of the charity, allowing you to contribute your ideas and knowledge for the wellbeing of your local community and the empowerment of youth.

(e) You get recognition for your volunteer community service. You receive a character reference for your future leadership ambitions and academic journey. Many organizations employ the employees whose leadership competence can be verified by other credible organizations within their local community. ANNOUNCEMENT. SAVE THE DATE!

Southdove Training Services Inc. will host the third week-long Dinka Language and Cultural Summer Camp starting Sunday July 19, 2026 at 14:00 hour and ending Saturday July 25, 2026 noon CST, bringing together youth and mentors from Calgary, Brooks, Regina, and Moose Jaw to celebrate Dinka language, culture and community. Weekend is preferable to allow the parents to drop off and pick up the teen and youth, age 10 - 17 years old. Registration fee this year is $100 per a camper. Deadline for registration is July 4, 2026 at 5:00 P.M CST.

For the young people who attend the Dinka Language and Cultural Summer Camp for the last two years, the experience has been more than learning a language — it is about discovering belonging and community.

Through storytelling, games, and shared meals, campers will explore what it means to be “a beloved child of the Creator” and a valued member of the Dinka community. Daily lessons, recreation, and cultural teachings built pride, self-esteem, and a stronger sense of identity among the participants.

Parents and guardians are welcome for Zoom orientation meeting on February 14, 2026 at 4:00 P.M. Alberta Time (5:00 P.M. in SK). Link will be shared with parents who have expressed interest in attending the meeting.

We are inviting parents and youth in Regina to attend the Dinka language and cultural camp orientation session today, Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 6:00 PM. The avenue of the orientation meeting is St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, 3337 15th Avenue, Regina. Please contact Rev. Athian Mayen Sr. for more details. This will be a great opportunity for the parents or guardians to learn about the activities and expectations during the language and cultural summer camp, and plan their time accordingly next time if they cannot make it to the camp this year. The Dinka language and cultural summer camp runs from August 10 - 15, 2025 and targets Dinka youth ages 10 - 17. See the poster. We also welcome the youth volunteers who will support the camp as cabin leaders. The youth volunteers receive an honorarium of $100 for the week. The Dinka language and cultural camp teaches both the language and culture, but we mostly speak English during the activities because we want people to understand the materials.

Our friends from Calgary are joining us for the second summer camp and it will be exciting to meet again. The team in Calgary will have a different day for their orientation. Rev. John Machol Chuol will facilitate the orientation for the team in Calgary and surrounding area.
